FH4-Review 03 | Ferrari F40

The Ferrari F40… The Legend… But honestly, I think this car is overrated. It is by no means a bad car but its I don’t think it is as good as I hoped it to be. Maybe I expected more from it since it had this kind of reputation. But its still a great car, it rockets from 0-100km/h in just 4 seconds from its mid-mounted 2.9-litre twin-turbocharged V8 that produces 478 hp and 424 lb-ft of torque. It sure is fast for a car from 1989, even sports cars from today accelerate from 0-100 in 4 sec. But one thing the F40 stands out is that it doesn’t have any electronic systems that stop it from sliding of spinning, this car a raw experience since nothing helps you here. If you don’t control the car, then the car won’t do anything. One interesting thing about the F40 was that it was that it was built more like a race car and not a sports car, I has lightweight bucket seats, manual windows, A string that you pulled to open the door. It was built very Interestingly but now onto whats Good and whats Bad with it.

Pros:
The most notable thing about this car is that it’s really fast for when it was made. If we think back in 1989 then 4 seconds would be very fast! Not to note that the car is a gorgeous car. I especially like the back of the car like how the wing is moulded with the car and also the exhaust pipes I rather interesting. The exhaust tips remind me of the new Honda Civic Type R. But if you are careful with the throttle then this car can be a lot of fun swinging around corners and just driving. With some minor tweaks with the grip and handling then it sure would be a weapon on the track. One thing that’s also cool that it doesn’t sound like your typical V8

Cons:
Sadly, I think that this car has the most problems out of any car I have driven… I Know that this is a raw experience since you have nothing to interfere with your driving. But personally it is to easy to lose grip, it understeers when you come into a corner if you try to drive it hard… It is something that feels wrong…
I am not sure if its the incredibly high price tag or if it’s my high expectations but this car feels just iffy to me. I am not sure what I feel about the pop-ups, I think on many cars it works but on this, I am just not sure, but they are starting to grow on me. I am not sure what to say more about to the car, but personally, for me, I don’t think this car is that special and I am not that impressed with its performance.

But let’s see how it does on the track!

After thoughts:
The car isn’t bad. The more I drive it the more I get used to it but it’s just something that doesn’t feel right. I am not sure if its the price tag or that I had higher expectations for this car since it was hyped up to be this legend of a car. I know I am gonna get hate because of what I am going to say now but… For me, this is a regular Sportscar. It doesn’t impress me. But as I said, in the beginning, this is still not a bad car and with just minor tuning, then I think this car would be a good weapon on track and a good cruising car but as it stands stock its a good car anyway, as long as you are easy on the throttle and don’t try to race it like a madman. If I would rate this car it would probably be around 60% and why I have chosen to give it just a “Very good” Rating is caused by the performance you get for the money. It isn’t worth 1.2 Million credits, You could get a car for 10 times cheaper than it could perform better. I think its best for the car and for me, that I let it stay as a masterpiece in my garage rather than driving it… It’s best to keep it as the legend it once was…

Keep on suggesting car you want to be reviewed!

Bad = 0 - 25%
Good 26 - 50%
Very Good 51 - 75%
Amazing = 76 - 100%

Until next time…

Well it wasn’t designed to be easy to drive ;)

I know, I know.. But I feel like, for 1.2 million credits, it’s not worth it. For that kind of money, it should be more polished than it is. You could, for example, buy the GT3 RS for a fraction of the price and still smoke it at almost everything. I am gonna leave it as a Legendary car since personally, I don’t find it that interesting actually. Not gonna go on a rant why i don’t like it, but its just not that special to me :)

You should try the F40 Competitzione! I’ve been thinking of getting one for a long time now, and I’d like to know how it is to drive, and maybe when you’re done you can sell it to me! 😁

The old school turbo cars are so cool when the boost builds and then it goes full send.

Just bought one. Its definitely a drivers car. I like how analog it “feels” it takes some getting used to and its not very grippy; that being said, its a 1980’s turbo monster so its supposed to be caios on wheels. I like it! I think i’ll get the F50 next.
