It’s because Toyota didn’t gave them the Right to put their car name in Initial D , until it became popular.

CeSayrise is correct. It’s actually not a mistake, it was deliberately done to avoid any copyright problems from Toyota. They got the rights later on so they changed Toreno to Trueno.
