2.7 or 3.5 eco boost swap?

The time has come to retire the old and tired 302 engine in my 1978 ford f100 and the time for the swap has finally come.

I have narrowed down the swap between a 2.7 ecoboost or a 3.5 ecoboost engine.

Which is the better motor and why?

I want my truck to run smoothly and don’t wanna drive it like a race car.

The problem is that the EcoBoost might be a bit too long.
I’ve seen a TV show in which some tuning company put an ecoboost in a foxbody, but there wasn’t enough space. They had to make a whole new custom floor and heatshield.

I think you should settle for something smaller.

A very torquey engine is the ARL engine from the Golf 4 GTI TDI.
Like, with the turbo from the Audi TT and a Stage 3 chiptune, it goes up to 220HP and 450NM. You can probably find them for sale pre-tuned.

If you want to go all out, you could swap the whole drivetrain and 4Motion it.

I mean, a lot of people have Ford swapped Fords, why not have something different?
Like, something to define your own car as being yours.
I mean, not ARL explicitly, but there are a ton of way better engines than the EcoBoost ones. You just gotta search for them.

Anyway, i’d still pick the 2.7L EcoBoost over the 3.5L, because it has a higher chance to fit without having to cut a lot of stuff.
