Toyota Progres | Vehicle Of The Day
Progres is a midsize luxury sedan made by Toyota between 1998 and 2007, replacing the Toyota Corona EXiV. The name “progres” is French for “progress”. Engines were: 2.5L 1JZ-GE I6, 2,5L 1JZ-FSE I6, 3.0L 2JZ-GE I6, 3.0L 2JZ-FSE I6. It was exclusive to Toyota Japan dealerships Toyopet Store. Progres was available with such luxuries for 1998 as 6 airbags, voice activated GPS system called G-Book, NAVI AI-SHIFT world first GPS-guided car transmission (mechanics), full wood and leather trim, gilt or silver analogue clock and full soft touch plastic interior, dual zone air conditioning and automatic head lights and wipers.

I never understand when Toyota makes luxury cars because at that point, why wouldn’t you just buy a Lexus? Nicer badge and the luxury Toyota tends to be more or less identical to its Lexus counterpart

I saw them regularly, mostly in dark metallic green. They look good in photos, not so good in real life.
Still it would be a great candidate for the 1JZ-GTE or 2JZ-GTE swap and make a sleeper.
I don’t entirely understand where they sit seeing as Lexus is Toyota’s luxury brand in Japan.
