Ford Lotus Cortina Mk1
Back in the good old ‘60s, while Americans had the Mustang, the British had the star, the Capri. Then there was a collaboration with Ford and Lotus while Ford was experiencing a downfall. So they made the Cortina, a lively, fun-to-drive, sports saloon. This was a legend in racing like the Group 2 Touring Car racing and British Saloon Car Championship along with rallying like the 1963 RAC Rally and 1964 Tour de France Automobile. Even now, as a collector’s item, the Ford Lotus Cortina is a great car to drive every day and to track with too. The Cortina is one of Ford’s best cars along with the Escort RS Cosworth, GT40, F-150 Ecoboost, Taurus SHO, Focus ST and RS, S-Max 2.5 and Shelby GT500.

I’d say Ford in Europe was better. In the US there was the Fairlane, Mustang, Torino and maybe the Ranchero In the 70s everything went downhill. Meanwhile in UK there was the Anglia, Escort, Cortina,Capri,Fiesta,Sierra and all of the generations where mostly good cars. Also the Focus SVT was sh!t compared to the RS we got in Europe.
Yea true Ford had great cars in Europe. But why isn’t the SVT a good car like how you said? Car and Driver said that the Focus SVT was the hot rod of hatches. Well, I liked the Focus ST and RS.
