Car culture in Nassau, Bahamas.

I was in Nassau for about 2 days, and here are the things I noticed about the car culture there:

(Btw, I will be posting pics later on, but I don’t have many pictures since I was busy doing other things)

1. Big rims. About 2/5 of the cars I saw had bigger rims than what they came with. For example, I saw a Honda Accord with I’d say 21 inch Mercedes rims, and a Toyota truck of some sort with I’d say 25 inch rims, and more that I can’t think of on the top of my head. I’m not sure why they do this, but they do.

2. Imported cars and RHD. Nassau is a RHD land. Cars drive on the same side of the road as you drive in the UK, Japan, Australia, and many more countries. However there are a lot of LHD cars on the roads. From what I observed, half the cars are RHD, and the other half are LHD. Most of these LHD cars are probably imported from America. Also, most of the imported cars are American cars. I saw a bunch of Chryslers (that includes Dodge), GM Cars (that includes Chevy, Cadillac, and GMC), and Fords. All were LHD, except for some Fords, and looked exactly like the ones we have here in the gud ol US of A. There was even a Ford Transit ambulance van that looked exactly like what we have here in America., LHD. There were also some Japanese cars that were designed for the USDM.

3. Why did every black Mercedes I saw there, have a Kompressor badge on it? No bs, every Mercedes that was had the exterior color black, had a Kompressor badge on it. I don’t know why.

4. (Some) Taxi drivers can barely drive manuals. I was in a taxi van (a Mitsubishi L300, don’t know what year) 4 times total, all had manuals, and all were different drivers. All of these drivers damn near stalled them, and kept them in 4th gear for a majority of the trips, even though there were quite a few turns, red lights, and traffic. I’m sure there are drivers that actually drive manuals good, but the drivers I had definitely weren’t.

A few interesting rides I saw there was an R34 4-door sedan, a V6 Camaro and Mustang (these were interesting since I did not expect to see those kinds of cars there), a Subaru wagon with an STI on the grille and trunk that was totally legit but still was cool, an Alfa Romeo 147, tons of these Mitsubishi L300 taxi vans with 5-speed manuals that I would really like to import one day, and the most interesting car I saw, was a Honda Oddesey that looked like a station wagon and were everywhere. All of the Honda Oddeseys I’ve ever seen in my country, are minivans. And I was surprised to see a station wagon version of it.

And another cool thing I saw on the beach was this random transmission just laying in the sand by a little hut. It was completely rusted and rocks were jammed inside. It could’ve been used as an anchor for a boat. I’ll post pics of it.

So there you have it folks, this was everything that I noticed about the car culture in Nassau, Bahamas. (Also, the McDonalds in Nassau tastes the same as the ones in America. I had to try it, lol)
