Astra H 1.6 engine swap
Hydraulic lifters have gone in the engine, it’s also burning oil quite badly, I’m just going to bite the bullet and put a new engine in it. I was wondering if i could put the engine from an Astra turbo in mine and if it would be a straight easy swap?

Although I have never swapped an engine in my entire life, I do know that such a thing as ‘an easy swap’ does not exist. I think you know this too, but I wanted to emphasize this ‘fact’ once more.
Hubs will be different, youll want the bigger brakes, driveshafts and gearbox.. I THINK the subframes are different.. Engine loom and ecu aswell.. All do able.
Or go down the saab route with a b204/234 engine, you can buy a loom to convert it from saab to vauxhall aswell.. Still a lot of work but it means 400bhp easy rather than 270.. Astra vxr engines need pistons etc over 300bhp..
