Types of Suzuki Katana and Jimny that sold in Indonesia

The Suzuki Katana is the 4x2 version of the second generation of Suzuki Jimny that sold in Indonesia.Because of tax rules in Indonesia,4x4 cars got bigger tax than 4x2 cars.That’s why 4x4 cars are so expensive here.The Katana was so cheap and small that even the Katana was one of the most popular car in Indonesia in the 90s and most driving school uses Katana.It also shares the same 970cc F10A engine with the Jimny.Here’s types of Suzuki Katana and Jimny that sold in Indonesia

1.Katana

1.Katana Indomobil

This type of Suzuki Katana was made by the distributor of Suzuki Indonesia.It has 2 trims.DX And GX.The difference between Katana GX and Katana DX is from the accessories.For example the DX trim has backseat that face to the opposite side while the GX has it’s backseat facing to the front

2.Katana Long

The Katana Long was made by Adiputro and has longer length than regular Katana.This car also called with Katana BRI because it’s used by Bank Rakyat Indonesia (People’s Bank).But it share the same engine with regular Katana so it felt underpowered and still uses 4x2 even though some has 4x4

3.Katana Corsica

The Katana Corsica was made by Alexander.And it avaliable in 2 versions.Long chassis 5 doors and Short chassis 3 doors

4.Katana Country

The unique thing about this Katana is the taillight is in the right and left side of the trunk.Not in the rear bumper like the other Katana.It also avaliable with long and short chassis even though only avaliable with 3 doors

2.Jimny (Second generation)

1.Jimny Trepes

This was called Jimny Trepes because of it’s low roof that makes people with height over 170CM gets struggled to sit on this car.The Jimny Trepes was produced between 1981 to 1983

2.Jimny V3/Super Jimny 6

In the 1984,Suzuki released the high roof version of Jimny.It was higher than the Jimny Trepes but still lower than the Katana.It was produced between 1984 to 1988

3.Jimny Sierra

The Jimny Sierra has an fiberglass or canvas roof that can be detachable.It also have an folding front windshield.The Jimny Sierra is avaliable in 2 versions.The narrow window and the wide window.It was produced between 1983 to 1985.This was the rarest Jimny in Indonesia

4.Jimny Samurai

The Jimny Samurai was actually intended for american market and europe.It has more powerful 1300cc G13A engine.Because of the Jimny Samurai was originally intended for american and european market,The Jimny Samurai was quite rare in Indonesia

5.Jimny Carrebian

The Jimny Carrebian was produced in Thailand in the 2007.Making it the youngest second generation Jimny in the world.
