Forget the physiotherapist, get a Huracan Super Trofeo Evo

The Lamborghini Huracan is the only car you can buy today with a naturally aspirated V10. No turbos, no electric engine, just a plain V10. This results in one of the best sounding cars money can buy. Even though every single car part on the Super Trofeo is different from its street legal donor, the main formula is still the same. It still has the V10 with its glorious sound, but now with racing headers to amplify that sound even more. The whole car is stripped and aero parts are added on every centimetre of the car.

Even though the Super Trofeo Evo in Roger Dubuis livery has a very limited run, I am lucky enough to be friends with one of the owners. In fact, I was lucky enough to be at the first testing of the car. @supercaroneleg took delivery on the car on a Thursday and the car lost its virginity the Monday after at Spa Francorchamps.

Since I was suffering from quite severe back problems throughout the entire winter, I was not feeling very well that period. My back felt so bad that I couldn’t even concentrate and had to go to the physiotherapist on a regular basis. Usually exercising solved the problem, but since I was still recovering from my dislocated shoulder, I was not able to go to the gym as much as I wanted. I went to Spa and had set an appointment with my physiotherapist for the next day. I expected a Huracan Super Trofeo Evo to make my back feel worse, but that was a sacrifice I was willing to make.

Oliver took me out on the first spin and it was the first time feeling the car at full potential. It had been drizzling in the morning, but in the afternoon it dried up, dry enough to fit slicks. You expect a lot from a racecar, but the performance still blew me away. If you have ever been on track with a supercar you know how insanely fast modern-day machines can go around a corner. Now take that experience and speed it up a notch, quite a lot actually. You are approaching a corner at 300 km/h and at the moment you think you die, you drop back to second gear to literally yank the car into a corner. The aero will do its work giving you a super stable and confident feeling in every corner. The entry speed and exit speed is so incredibly high making every other car on track feel like it is standing still. To put it in perspective: I was caught up behind a 991 GT3RS throughout the S corners of Spa and it felt slow. SLOW! A GT3RS felt slow!

All this speed also means a lot of G-forces are generated during a session. I was constantly working on keeping my neck straight. There is no second you can relax your neck or back muscles. Even though you are in a tight seat and completely strapped in, you are still processing the G-forces when accelerating, braking or going left or right. All these G-forces on my body actually gave such power on the muscles in my neck and back that I came out of the car as if I just went to my physiotherapist. My back felt absolutely fine. It is by far not an easy ride. In fact, I don’t understand how people can do this lap after lap and I certainly don’t understand how anything can go any faster. Oliver told me he drives the LMP1 through Eau Rouge with 295km/h! I don’t know how, but he manages to do it during the Six hours of Spa. But all these forces on my back and neck just solved all back problems making me cancel my appointment with the physiotherapist. Now I know the physio is probably a lot cheaper than a Super Trofeo Evo. But if you have the funds, please buy a Super Trofeo Evo.
