Why Chris Harris is the perfect replacement for Jeremy Clarkson in Top Gear #blogpost

Many people aren’t convinced by the show’s current layout, but many are by Chris Harris, and I think it may be down to his similarities with Clarkson…

1. They both started out as auto journalists with ridiculous haircuts

Only two of the current presenters are hired based on their journalist backgrounds, both came into the show fairly unknown, and interestingly both are now probably among the most popular presenters on the show- Harris and Reid. Maybe it’s because they didn’t have much to prove, or maybe it’s because auto journos are perhaps best suited for the job (hence Clarkson), something which the show’s directors have clearly overlooked.

2. They are both very fond of a particular item of clothing

3. They both owned a Mercedes CLK63 AMG Black Series

Clarkson is well known for owning a CLK Black and moaning about it, but Harris, although he is known for owning various 911s, little is known of his CLK Black ownership. Very high praise indeed for the car.

4. Both have some… interesting… opinions

5. One of the most important things to them is just hanging around with their mates

Harris highlighted in his feature length hypercar shootout that one of great things about the film was the chance to hang out and catch up with some close friends of his, Tiff Needell and Marino Franchitti. And, of course, the entire 12 years of previous Top Gear was practically based around Clarkson, Hammond, and May’s tomfoolery with each other. Aww.

6. And, of course, both love nothing more than burning the tires and petrol of expensive supercars
