Introduction

Hello People of the Internet! How are you all doing, during this beautiful summer day? Good, good. I’m doing fine myself, thanks for asking! Today I’m here to tell you about my newest automotive fascination which is the TVR Tuscan! This is the car that people use to describe the word: “Crazy”. I’ve never been even remotely interested in this car, until yesterday. You know what happened that made my interested in the Tuscan? Absolutely nothing, I just randomly fell in love with it… Well without further ado, let me tell you about this bonkers machine!

TVR

In this chapter I’m going to shortly describe the history of TVR, because you are too lazy to open Wikipedia and do it yourself. No worries though, uncle Szymek S has enough time to read about this amazing manufacturer :)
The company was founded in 1947 when a local petrolhead from Blackpool- Jack Pickard joined Trevcar Motors founded by Trevor Wilkinson few years back. They renamed the company to TVR Engineering. They started out by doing some general engineering work on cars.
The first company TVR has ever produced was the TVR one, it used an engine from Ford and some parts from the Morris 8. It was sold for 325 Pounds. The owner didn’t last long and crashed it pretty soon after buying it. Usable parts were later salvaged and used for another TVR project.
Everything was going pretty decent for TVR until 1970’s/1980’s when TVR started getting some loses and the owners of the company changed more often than I see blue cars in Shmee’s videos (And I see blue cars in his videos pretty damn often).

Everything started to go well for TVR when the company was bought by a brilliant lad- Peter Wheeler. Under his hands the company has produced some of its best cars, like the Tuscan. Unfortunately mr. Wheeler sold the company to a Russian gentlemen who goes by the name of Nikolay Smolensky. He once again proved that being mega rich means you are suddenly the best at the completely new craft for you (am I right mr. Abramovich?)… Well mr. Smolensky has turned everything Wheeler has worked so hard for into a broken company. He had this genius idea that only engines for TVR’s should be produced in Blackpool and the rest of the car should be produced in Turin. Guess what? It didn’t bloody work!
Fortunately mr. Nikolay Smolensky is not the owner of TVR anymore as the company is now managed by two folks: Les Edgar & John Chasey. They seem to be doing quite well and I really hope that they can turn this company into something it deserves to be.

It is not made to look good or be eco- it is made to go fast and make you wet your pants and you are going to love every second of it!

TVR Tuscan

Alright after that short introduction in which I told you about the British brand, I want to tell you about my favourite car made by it- The Tuscan.
The car went into production in 1999 and was produced until 2006. It has featured a 3.6 straight 6 or a 4.0L straight 6. The car puts down all of its power by rear wheels. It had a 7 speed automati… wait no just kidding. It was only available with a 5 speed manual gear-box. This car features all safety features like ABS, traction control and air bags. It’s a prank bro!. TVR doesn’t acknowledge those features as “safety features”. They say that they’ve determined that their cars are safer without any of those systems.
The car has 380 or 400 hp depending on the displacement of it, it also weighs 1100 kg. Which gives it performance equal to some of the high end supercars. It reaches 60 miles per hour in 3.9 seconds! It is a very respectable result for a rear wheel drive, manual, 400hp car.

My personal view on the Tuscan

This car is absolutely bonkers. It’s not safe, it’s not practical and you can’t use it everyday but it’s really freaking quick. If I could compare this car to anything I would say it is like a dinner with a psychopath: It’s all fun and all until you realise that it is leading to him killing you in a ditch somewhere.
Yet I would love to own one. It’s price tag is not bad (22k pounds to 47k pounds), the performance is very decent. It would have to be a second car though. It is humanly impossible to own this car on a daily basis. Even people who own it say there is no way to do so. Also it is terribly unreliable and It’s about as safe as playing with a plugged toaster in a bath tub.
But all of those thing just make this car absolutely brilliant and crazy. You can get it in all sorts of bonkers colours and you probably will enjoy every second of driving it on a track. You just need to respect it even when you are driving it, I’m pretty sure it can also smell you being scared so that is a big no no.
If you can afford one and you already have a safe, reliable, practical and good car I reckon you should go for it. Even if you are going to regret buying it and will sell it after a year- you will probably look back at it after a few years go back and realise how fun this car is. It is the representation of what an enthusiasts car is. It is not made to look good or be eco- it is made to go fast and make you wet your pants and you are going to love every second of it!
