Dead serious question:
Why do you hate Opel/Vauxhall so much?
I thought of doing a blog on it, so give me some reasons and i will explain them

If i have to choose between the new “meh” normal cars or the old rear wheel drive cars (manta, ascona,…) i’d pick the old ones.

I wouldn’t call it entirely a hate, if it’s hated, why do people like it?

To car guys with money, Vauxhalls aren’t the prime choice. That’s all. They just make boring cars starting from the 1990s. I don’t like Vauxhall because they are all badge engineered Opels/Holdens/Chevrolets. Since the 90s, Vauxhalls are just a rebadge fest.

Well you clearly never heard about Omegas then… I mean ok you did have a point that Vauxhall isnt a good choice for you if you have a lot of money, but i dont and thats why opel is so special to me

My mum had a 10 plate Vauxhall zafira and it got recalled 3 times for the exact same reason if you used the heater it would simply catch fire no joke, and that was 3 years ago now and it’s still happening to people, but now we have a 15 plate zafira and it’s great

I heard about that, every car manufacter does something wrong, we all make mistakes, look at ford, they made a Pinto explode when it was rear ended and nobody talks about that

There is a chance you can see a Cadillac Catera (Opel Omega), Opel Kadett, Opel GT, Opel Speedster, Opel Solastice or Saturn Solastice…

Alex in one of their videos started laughing how Ethan bought a Astra, alright i get it a simple little joke. But read through comments and you will see a bunch of people saying Opel is for old brown and grey people and that they rust af.

I like the things from its past, like the Lotus Carlton(Pretty obvious), and the Manta. After that, they just made boring grey cars. Now though, I think they’re finding their long-lost performance-car-making ability back with the VXR’s and OPC’s..

The new Insignia is just brutal, even the biggest Opel hater and BMW fan will admit that. Opel is getting back in the game. I like Omegas, Mantas, Senator, Monzas those were faster than M models from BMW back in the day i think

There’s only one thing I dislike:
old Corsas (sold as Chevrolet) in South America are the official ricers of or continent, comparable to old Civics in North America

Hmmm… Well every ricer has a backstory maybe it is from the era when it was cool (early 2000’s)

They done effed up. Somewhen in the late 80s they bought a batch of steel the russians didn’t want. Result was, that even the rust started rusting. Engines where fine though. After that, they never really recovered. The cars felt cheaper then they were (or at least then the price suggested). Then there was the stereo-type of the manta driver (wich was as well liked at the idiot-ricer) which didn’t help, followed by youngsters torturing Calibras. After that, they didn’t offer anything that really took of anymore. They tried with the Speedster and the GT Roadster. But they sold like lead balloons. Then they did what they did, they built cars. Boring cars. They glued cheap plastics into some shell and stuck some pathetic excuse of an engine into it. Then came this whole bankruptcy cluster-eff. Now they stuff GM parts into these shells. Doesn’t really solve the problem. I wouldn’t call it hate, i would say, they lost their identity. They have nothing left that defines them, except the glory of a bygone era. For me, they are a lost cause. I don’t wan’t any of their faceless patchwork taters. They had some interesting engines with potential way back when. These days? I don’t know, and i’m not really interested either. And i think, that many car enthusiasts see it the same way.

Im talking about the cars, not their owners and besides that happened in late 2000’s that was something everybody done.
