Proposed VW Karmann Ghia Successor - 1962

Seven years into the life of the Karmann Ghia Karmann developed (notably without being ordered to do so) a potential successor to the Karmann Ghia.
The car was presented to Volkswagen after half a year of development, but was quickly denied production.
The simple reason?
Shortly before this car was presented in 1962 Volkswagen had launched the “large” Karmann Ghia Type 34, which had cost a lot of money.
Knowing that the new “basic Ghia” (Type 14) was seen as too expensive, partly because of features like a panoramic rear window, the single-colour interior and the elaborately shaped windshield.
The concept car remained in Volkswagen’s collection, being, like all other cars in that fleet, kept in perfect condition.
It can’t drive, however, since it has no engine or gearbox.
Instead, it used to have a block of wood in the rear, simulating the weight of an engine for the suspension.
