Hi, im planning on buying a mk2 golf in the next month. I want my golf to be pushing 200bhp+ and i dont know much about tuning. What would be best to achieve this? Engine swap, turbo? Any ideas. Thanks for your help!!

The easy way is the engine swap 1.8t from a audi tt quattro 225 hp, stock and u can push it with just a remap well over 250 hp , a k04 turbine and 440ccm injectors remap , intake , exhoust u can easy go over 400 hp

Thanks for the quick reply! If i were to do the 1.8t engine swap, could i just leave it at that? Or do i need to replace other parts too for it to work?

Gearbox, ecu etc, upgrade brakes because standard gti brakes are not for this power dedicated :)

VR6 are quite popular engine swap for the golf mk 2 .
Its should be easy to find a guide online.

I would recommend the ABF 2.0 16v from Mk3 GTi. It does push 150hp but it’s a lot easier and cheaper swap than 20VT from Audi TT or S3,which can be quite costly, mostly because there ain’t too many of them.

Another option to consider is bolting a 16v head to an aba block. Its not super simple but the result is a low compression engine with stock forged internals. Just bolt up the turbo of your choice. Plenty of threads on the vortex about it.

This is the best choice, but not for a newbie,in my opinion.
