What do you call the rear part of a car like this? You'd say "I'm going to open the ______" engine bay? Boot?

Well, In the case of the F50, it’d be the rear clamshell

Bonnet at the front. Boot at the back I’m sure. The Americans just like to change words for no apparent reason haha

Bonnet, as said here already a bonnet is a covering for a vehicle’s engine

Ok thanks, it’s just because unlike a normal bonnet, it covers the entire rear, so someone told me it was the clamshell, but then someone else said that’s the structure name, but it’s still a bonnet?

I say “pop the hood” and then I say “the rear one” and then make some joke… “I dunno what you call it! “

It happened to me because I was telling my dad that the F40s clamshell bonnet boot thing had no hinge to stop it so it would keep going and smash down on the cabin. So I said something like “When you open the… Uhhh… You know, the boot thing at the back where the engine is… What is it called?”

That’s what the Americans would call it though, I’m wondering what the proper term is
