the Swedish GTO

The Swedish GTO. Y’know, the only reason this car is becoming increasingly famous is because of a German’s collection of Lego Ferrari’s he made for Ferrari Day Billund. Which made Lego build there own version for newborns and a full size one.

It wasn’t until 1963 (and a 4th owner by the name of Ulf Norinder) that this Ferrari (chassis 3445GT) got its iconic colours, it’s original colours were the basic Rosso Corsa with blue cloth interior, and all of the first 3 owners of this car were of Italian origin, but now it has seen 5 different countries, and is now since 2005 owned by Christopher Cox, meaning it has it’s home in Chapel Hill.

In 1965 it was rebodied by Drogo (hence the picture above), after which it was briefly sent to America but then bought by Robert Lamplough in 1971, but in 1976 the car was damaged so badly, the entire Drogo body was nothing but scrap, so it was gebodied like a regular series I GTO (it’s current body). In 1996 it was bought by William Bauce in Sante Fe, and in the same year bought by a Japanese man by the name of Yoshiho Matsuda who sold it again in 2003 to Charles Arnott, which (since 2005) brings us to the curren owner.

It has seen, in its entire life, Italy, Germany, France, Belgium, Sweden, England, America, Puerto Rico and lastly; Japan. Quite the world tour, innit? I wonder why it’s had 9 owners though… peculiar.

The drogos were mostly based on the 250 GT SWB, I think

According to the chassis history it was given a Drogo body, but the Breadvan was indeed a regular SWB, though the body was inspired by the GTO.
