Plastidip Today #rubbishpost
After yesterday’s success, I decided to go ahead and plasti-dip the R34 like a real car-person.
It was a year ago in early February when I asked CarThrottle what colour to paint my B-Pillars since they were looking a bit rough.
After taking the CT’s advisory, I headed off to SuperCheap Auto to get me some paint from the team that I was much acquainted with, having needed to source many tools for my car project.
I was heading home when a flash flood appeared and went, leaving the roads wet and slidey. I said to myself that I never have fun anymore so I decided to take a detour through the valley to get sideways.
That was when I crashed and my nearly-completed project was back near square-one.
It is over a year later and I finally got around to painting the B-pillars except this time that can of gloss black paint is still in the garage unused, and I now wield a can of some other paint.
Or I shouldn’t say “paint” as it’s actually a silicone aerosol spray.
When spraying the car, I noticed that the plasti-dip is a lot chunkier than spray paint - the pattern is vary sparse and resembles a bad photoshop brush. But I went ahead and did it anyway, all the while consulting my plasti-dip expert who informed me not to.
And here is how the final “dip” looks.
This is probably what you’re thinking after seeing that photo. From a distance it looks good but…
So now it looks like the underside of an offroader. The question is to peel or not to peel, and the Jury has found to be strongly in favour of peeling and painting with the spray can I bought a year ago that left me being towed by another Skyline.
And you can see the other B-pillar that also needs a paint - let me just tell you now that the plastidip on this side tried to peel away when I removed the masking tape so it looks even worse than 3 images up.
That’s enough fails for one day, here’s a cool photo of my Honda after plasti-dipping the exhaust.

Peel it and paint it black
That’s why you never plasti dip window surrounds/b-pillars!
thats what happens when u spray it too far from the object you need to be a bit closer and the finish must be perfect too thats why i recommend practising on the fender
It said about 6” away so I measured it using… nevermind. Anyway I do think it was longer than 6”
Looking like the product of said avocados, I can confirm that peeling is your best option. Maybe replace it with a bunch of Deadpool stickers.
Hahah from the main man hisself
I’ve just plastidipped my R34 and it looks good! Just be patient.
I think I saw this on instagram and everyone hated it except one person because no one knows what Japans police look like
