Miata na vs nb
Hi ct, it’s me again with another Miata question. I am looking at buying a mint condition ‘05 nb with a new top, and the owner is asking 6500usd, is this a good price? Also, I have an mg, and this will serve as a reliable sports car for when the mg breaks. A lot of people say the na is better fun, and I was wondering if there is really any fun difference between the na and nb. As this is second to the mg, I would rather it be little more usable, and that is why I am thinking of an nb. I prefer the na because they do not have obd2 computer nonsense. But for some that is a plus. Overall though the na is a little more down and dirty easy to work on. Nb will have more power stock.
Thanks, but obd2 and emissions don’t really matter since I’m in Louisiana and they don’t care.
IMO I would go for the NB because it’s more safer and the NA and NB2 have almost the same parts: like roll bars, suspension setup, and etc (Plus it looks better in my opinion, although the picture up there is a Mazdaspeed, you could always make it look like that:D)
NB is NOT safer. Every bit of safety equipment is also availiable on the NA. I have a NA with 2 Airbags and ABS, OBD2 and powersteering
id only pay 6500 if it was a low mileage car like 60k miles or less. I paid 3700 for my 2000 which had the leather package(105k miles), the only mandatory fixes ive done are a new fuel pump and headlight bulbs. Find other examples that are similar(dont forget cheaper) and show him why his price is too much. Good luck on your Miata hunt!

6500 is what i’d pay for a Mazdaspeed NB. Or a ‘95M NA, but not some base version. These things are not worth more than 4000 (imo, because you can find plenty at that pricerange and below)
You could never find a nice mazdaspeed for 6500
It depends what you want to do with the car, the mk1 has more options more aftermarket parts, tends to more looked after than the Mk2 the best way to find out which you prefer is have a test drive of both? I’ve not driven a mk2 yet but after owning the mk1 id find it strange not having pop ups 😂
I BRIEFLY considered changing my NA for an NB a couple of years ago. I looked at a late NB with VVT and I think 143bhp from the factory, but it didn’t feel as lively or responsive as my ‘91 NA and just didn’t feel as special…………….

You can get some pretty decent bargains with NA’s,I found. Search for few.
Anyhow,go for the one you like the most.

They are very similar, only advantages of the na that i can think of are popups and ive sat in all 4 generations and the na suprisingly has the most leg and headroom
