Apex seals are on rotary engines only, unless you have a rotary engine (mostly Mazda) you don’t have to worry about them.

They are seals that are placed on the apex of the rotor (or angles) and they prevent the three/four stages of the cycle to mix, like exhaust getting into the intake etc.

These wear out if the chamber is not lubricated enough, they never “blow out”, they start to shard destroying the chamber beyond repair.

So always make sure you top up your oil and rev the hell out of your engine.

I see. So when there’s not enough oil in the engine, you will destroy that apex seal
