How would you (the CTzens) go about making the Dodge Dart AWD?

Disclaimer Leave all “I hate the current Dart, the Dart looks like a Neon” and similar comments to yourself. As this is not the place for such comments. With that out of the way, lets get to theorizing.

Theory one: Using the Avenger’s AWD system. I checked to see the wheelbase of the Avenger and apparently it had a wheelbase of 108.9 inches (2,766 mm). The Dart by comparison has a wheelbase of 106.4 inches (2,703 mm). Sure the Avenger has a slightly longer wheelbase, however that makes it far more compatible than the Caliber’s wheelbase. Sitting in at 103.7 inches (2,635 mm).

For some of you, the next thing I’m about to say will come to you as a shock. So here it goes: The Dodge Avenger and the Mitsubishi Lancer share the same platform. To those of you who knew this and are about to say “Why not have the Lancer’s AWD as an option as well?” There is a simple reason for this. The Lancer has the same wheelbase as the Caliber. Meaning that it’s just a tad bit to short.

Sure you could just fabricate a part that would bridge the gap needed to connect the front and rear end, however personally I think I’d rather take some bit out rather than add a bit in. If you want to theorize a possible way of giving the Dart AWD just comment below and I’ll add it in to the possible ways of doing it.

Edit: I forgot to mention the engine. I’m not 100% sure but I think that the 2.4 Liter MultiAir engine in the Dart is just the regular 2.4 “World” engine previously used in both the Avenger and Caliber but with MultiAir (it probably has other enhancements). So it might not be the hardest thing in the world to add in AWD to the engine.

If that doesn’t work it might be possible just to swap the engines. As both of them are 2.4 Liter engines (yes I know that is a massive generalization).

No this is not for me when I get my Dart, I’m just curious if there is a way of doing it at all.
