8 Cars That are a Wolf in Sheep's Clothing (sleepers)

1. 2004 Mercury Marauder

This Marauder came with a very tunable engine that was a 4.6 liter V8 producing 302 horsepower to the rear wheels.

2. 1996 Chevrolet Impala SS

The Impala SS came with a 5.7 liter LT1 V8 from the Corvette which made 260 horsepower, but you could get a version tuned by Callaway which made 404 horsepower thanks to a massive supercharger.

3. Mercedes Benz 190e 2.5 16v Cosworth

You all have probably heard of this car by now, but, it is a serious sleeper. Today, this car is very discreet, with a stock 204 horsepower for the European market and a dog leg first gear, you know that this car was made to race.

4. 1987 Buick Regal Grand National GNX

The stock grandma car body with a turbocharged V6 creating 245 horsepower and 355 lb-ft of torque. Unfortunately only available with an automatic transmission but there are many available aftermarket 5 speed swaps.

5. Chevrolet SS

The SS looks much like an ordinary Chevrolet sedan, but, Chevrolet stuffed the 6.2 liter V8 from the C7 Corvette, it produces 415 horsepower to the rear wheels with a 6-speed manual gearbox. BMW M5 or M3 sedan contender? I sure think so, yell at me fanboys, see if I care.

6. Vauxhall Lotus Carlton

This sleazy looking automobile has a 3.6 Twin Turbo I6 which produces a massive 377 horsepower and 419 lb-ft of torque all that power went to the rear wheels so it is a bit crazy when the going gets twisty. It has a top speed of 177 mph and zero to 60 in 5.2 seconds, in 1990!

7. MazdaSpeed 6 GT

This interstate warrior looking car has a turbocharged 2.3 liter I4 that makes an impressive 274 horsepower through an AWD system. The MazdaSpeed 6 GT was available with a 6 speed manual for that extra motor sport feel.

8. Ford Sierra Sapphire RS Cosworth

The Sierra Sapphire RS Cosworth has a 2.0 liter I4 with a turbo, that creates 204 horsepower and 205 lb-ft of torque. It goes 0 to 60 in 5.8 seconds which in 1988 was one of if not the fastest saloon out there.
