Jenvey ITBs. Should I do it?

I already have a turbo kit for my Mk1 MX-5, so I’m thinking of going a different direction on my new Mk2. I’ve always had a massive soft spot for Jenvey ITBs, as they are absolutely incredible.

I wouldn’t mind creating my own out of motorbike throttle bodies, but Jenvey’s is just so complete and perfect.

With a port and polish, I’ll get a few hp gain, but it’s not about that to me as it’s my daily. I just want to hear the bwaaaaaaaah.

It would look (and sound even more) amazing!! Do it! Is it the 1.8 or 1.6?

Both my MX-5s are the 1.8s. However, my Mk2.5 is standard without variable valve timing.

That face when VTEC will never kick in yo.

Hi,Love the Quinn’s car! nice setup

Hummm… these mesh filter are sht ;)They complettly fcked up the air speed and acoustic effect so they just do the oposite of what you supposed ehnance with ITB ;)

Prefer big air box with massive air filter and fresh air ducting, like BMW did on their M3 E46 CSL ;)Lot more efficient, still the sound, no hassle, just better than ridiculous bling things

A bit a strange place to ask a question, but what these do, and what benefits of putting these on a car?

These are Individual throttle bodies (ITBs) and they allow more air to be sucked into the engine, quicker and more precisely.

Due to the fact that you have 4 throttle bodies (in a 4 cylinder car), the valves can open and shut much quicker, which gives you better throttle response, and an awesome sound.

The benefits are close to non existent, as you gain a few hp if that. However, you do gain amazing amounts of throttle response, and an unbeatable noise.

you’ll need a standalone ECU, ITBs are a pain to tune for. And polish isn’t actually good for intakes, smooth isn’t good for aerodynamics.
