My Top 5 racing games - Which ones do you like best?

There are hundreds of good racing games on the market - but which one’s are the best? I hardly doubt that somebody played all of them, but still I want to hear your opinions! Here are my Top 5 racing games:

#5: Midnight Club Los Angeles (by Rockstar Games)

The successor of Midnight Club 3 which I absolutely loved. Gameplay is simple: Rice and Race. It still has the spirit of Midnight Club 3 (although the in-game music is much worse) with better graphics and more options (like ricing car’s interiors etc). My first car was a Nissan 240SX

#4: Gran Turismo 3 / Gran Turismo 4 (by Polyphony Digital)

How it all started! Yep, Gran Turismo 3 was the first racing game I ever played. I don’t remember how old I was back then, but I still remember my first race: A brown Peugeot 206 on ‘Super Speedway’… After a long time playing GT3 my Dad bought Gran Turismo 4, which was way better in terms of graphics, cars and tracks. I still remember my first race as well: With a blue VW Karmann-Ghia on an off-road track. Don’t ask.

#3: Gran Turismo 6 (by Polyphony Digital)

You may be wondering: Why did I skip Gran Turismo 5? Well, because I never played it. We’ve had GT4 for an incredibly long time, and then my Dad saw an article in a car magazine about the Mercedes Vision Gran Turismo. A week later he came home with a brand new PS3 and GT6. The graphics were mind-blowing, there were over 1200 cars to choose from, for the first time ever I could race online… My first race: A orange Honda Fit on high-speed ring. Again, don’t ask.

#2: TDU2 (by Atari)

Not many people know this game. But it’s awesome. It’s an open-world game where you can explore both Ibiza and Hawaii with all kinds of different cars. You can race, buy houses, customize your character (clothing shops, surgeries etc)… There are also many cars you don’t get in other racing games like Gran Turismo, for example Audi Q7, Range Rover, Audi A3, and many more. My first car was a black 1966 Ford Mustang Cruise-O-Matic.

#1: Midnight Club 3 (DUB Edition (Remix)) (by Rockstar Games)

I love this game so much. It is for the Play Station 2, the graphics are low quality, there are no interior views, but I’m still playing it (and I’m still only half-way through because it’s almost endless). You can race in many different cities (San Diego, Atlanta, Detroit, Tokyo) in many different cars. The soundtrack is awesome as well (and fully available on YouTube) and the gameplay is the same as in Midnight Club Los Angeles: Rice and Race. I am not a ricer, but this game has so much character you just have to love it. My first car was a matte black Chevy Monte Carlo with golden rims and accent parts. Really don’t ask.

NOTE: Gran Turismo vs Forza / Play Station vs XBOX is like Samsung vs Apple. And although I prefer Samsung just like my Dad does, I would love to own an XBOX (I played Forza 6 in a tech store for 15 mins…) But at first I have to convince my Dad to buy a PS4 - Gran Turismo Sport is coming and I can’t wait!
