Rev cap in neutral
Hey guys, so i was revving a 2011 g37 in neutral while parked, and even when i floored it, the engine would cap at 5000 rpms, but red line is at 7000. Why is this? Can it be changed?

Most cars have a rev limiter depending if you are in park, drive, etc. The rev limiter is there so you don’t damage your engine. You can remove it via modifying the ECU but I don’t see the point as it is protecting your engine.
And the reason it’s a 5k vs 7 is because ur engine is not under load so it’s not safe to spin the engine that fast.

I wanted to know if i could get the beautiful redline sound when parked, but I guess there’s a good reason I can’t.
This is a factory rev limiter so you don’t damage your engine. only way to change it is ECU remap (or ECU swap).. anyway I really don’t suggest revving an engine while in P or N over 3,500 or 4,000rpms. Floor it while in gear you’ll be bashing the engine for a good reason haha :)
