Anyone know a bit about Kawasaki?

I saw a bike in a liquidation sale - a 1990 Kawasaki GPX250 like the one pictured. I read very good reviews, however they are about the GPX250R, and I assume it is for a late model Ninja, not this old thing.
Does the R mean a higher spec like Honda’s RR?
Or is the 250 the same as the 250R?
Anyone had any experience with these in the past?

The GPX250/GPX250R are the same bike.
They share a lot of parts with the ZZR250 (engine, suspension, bars etc…..), so should have virtually identical performance. I’ve only owned a ZZR250, but have a mate that has a GPX250

Really good, practical little learner bike. They come with a cargo net, and can have a top box mounted.

The engine’s pretty much bulletproof and can handle the open road pretty well for a 250. It’ll get you to 100 in about 7 seconds, and do a pass at Meremere in 15-16.

The clutch makes a bit of a banging/knocking noise at idle when the lever is released. Not much you can do about it, It’s a Kawasaki thing. Won’t damage your clutch/gearbox though

The only problems i have had are with the rear shock (when I bought the ZZR, it had worn out, and the previous owner tried to compensate by maxing out the spring preload).

They’re really easy to work on and service thanks to the box section swing arm and centre stand.

Hope this helps
