Why I love the 4cyl Foxbody Mustang a little bit more than the V8. #BlogPost

I don’t really understand the hate…whenever I mention the 4cyl in conversation with guys at work, they simply brush it off as “not a real Mustang”…..really? That’s funny because….it sure does have the name of a “real” Mustang. It looks the same as a “real” Mustang(aside from a couple body tweaks). It also has half the cylinders but can be built to be faster than a 5.0. “DUH YOU IDIOT! ANYTHING CAN BE MODIFIED TO BE FASTER! KILL YOURSELF!!!” Beat yall to that bullsh!t. But really? Is it any less “Mustangy”? #opinion #FoxBody #4bangers #TunnelVision

So. Why do I like it more? #List time!

1.) Base Models are cheap as hell!

2.) Even the super fast turbo SVO is relatively cheap!

But some obnoxious orange Nikes for $50? Instead of $120?

Anyway…back to the list.

3.) Cheap Drift Weapon.

4 screaming cylinders, some serious engine mods on a strong chassis? The resulting product is a cheap, tire shreading beast. Just like its Japanese equivalent in my opinion (bringing us to reason number 4)

4.) It's basically a fat S13 from America.

Why import an S13 for a crap ton of Yen when you could just buy a 2.3 Foxbody? For at most a few thousand Dollars….dont mess around with that Yen crap….too damn confusing.

You own a Mustang. It looks amazing. AND you get pretty great MPG!

And in a 5.0? Hmmm...bye wallet.

I like to call myself a “Practical Petrolhead”. I mean….I drive a grandma car-bodied, but still wicked fast Volkswagen Mommy mobile. I love my wagon. It’s understated…not ugly. It’s hidden.
So…MPG matters to me…if it doesn’t matter to you…you have a lot of money or maybe not a lot of responsibilities. Or maybe you are a sole investor. Anyway…the point is, I would like to NOT have to fill up before, during and after a hoon session. Oh ya…hoon…. reason

6.) Can hoon like crazy.

A few CTzens have 4cyl Foxbodies on here. And they all look great! Really love the purple SVO from ThatGuyWithTheSpeed6.
Not often do you see that color…it looks amazing. Some CTzens I could find in the gallery. Brings me to number 7.

7.) They are a bit Rare.

Compare that to the amount of Foxbodies with 8 cylinders…their rarity means they have a story. They have character. From bumper to bumper. Inside and out. They are amazing. They are on my dream list. I love how they….

Thats pretty much it. Sorry for just stopping….haha thanks for reading. And upvoting. Giving me your upvotes keeps me alive. If you dont….I slowly stick myself into a meat grinder…penis first. PLEASE LIKE MY STUFF!!!!!

I dont want to be that guy but i will be.

The V8 has more HP/Torque (obviously), and it can handle modifications better. There is a reason that there are literaly thousands of performance parts for the 5.0 and not the 4 Cyl. For a fun drift car, the 5.0 makes a lot more sense (i.e. more torque, less upgrading to do to make drift ready and more parts available when you want to upgrade). On the subject of fuel economy, you really shouldnt be buying a mustang if you want an economy car.

The only reason i would buy a 4 cyl mustang is to get a cheap chassis to drop the 5.0 in. Lets be honest the 5.0 isnt expensive to get and it is an easy swap.

Also, i find it funny that you used a picture of a V8 powered mustang for the drift portion of the blog.

Im not hating on the blog, it was quite well written but i am making the arguement for those of us who would rather have the V8.

Dont need HP to have fun. Finding or fabricating your own parts is more petrolhead-like than buying common parts for a common engine. Fuel economy wasnt the target, merely a bonus. The sound of a big v8 drifting is cool to some but for me its not as cool sounding as 4cylinder turbos. They have that distinctive sound…like a V8 has its own brand of ear candy. The 4 will reign supreme to me. The 8 will be second in command. The one that goes out and meets the people. The one that waves at passing Camaros and Chargers. The one with that very close and really knowledgeable friend with a fancy set of wrenches and drivers. The one with the best of bros riding together into the sunset.
Those were my poor attempt at “humor”. I’m sorry you had to see that.
