Volkswagen Golf 7 R 3.6 Bi-Turbo by HGP-Turbo. #blogpost

You may know HGP-Turbo from previous projects, like the Audi RS6 tuning kit with up to 763 PS and 935 Nm or the Golf 6 R 3.6 with 700+ PS. Now HGP finished another 700+ PS project, this time it’s the Golf 7 R.

The engine of this monster Golf is from the old Passat R36 and the gearbox is from the new RS3, but with strengthened clutch. HGP had to change the gearbox because the one in the Golf R is only capable to handle 400 Nm of torque and with the new engine it already has about 500 Nm at 2100 rpm and the maximum torque of 925 Nm at 4600 rpm.

The main problem of the VR6 swap was to get the engine running flawless with all features, since the Golf 7 is a newer car with new software and electronics. Now some people would ask: what about the emissions? You don’t need to worry about emissions in this car, it complies all German laws and regulations.

If you want to mock some Lamborghini owners then this is the right car for you, it has 740 PS and 925 Nm and goes from 0-200km/h in 8.9 seconds. That’s pretty impressive, because this Golf can compete with a 320.000€ Lamborghini Aventador which has 700 PS and does 0-200km/h in 8.6 seconds (according to Wikipedia, it’s more like 9 seconds in reality). HGP-Turbo didn’t release a price yet but I expect it to cost around 70.000€ (without car), because the Golf 6 R 3.6 costs 65.000€.
