Mazda Eunos Cosmo
Hello guys,
First of all, i want to say that this is the first time i wrote something like this, and i`m not to good at english so, yeah..
A couple of days ago, bored in class i was trying to find cars that are very underrated, cars that not enough people hear of it. After a couple of searches i found some great cars in my opinion, and i was thinking to wrote about them.
So, let`s start with the beginning :
Mazda Cosmo was a grand touring coupe, with the first Cosmo (from 1967 to 1972 ) succesfully launching the Wankel engine. Mazda chose to use the name "Cosmo" was to reflect international cultural fascination with the "Space race", as Mazda wanted to showcase the rotary engine as forward-thinking, with a focus on future developments and technology.
But, the car i fell in love with is the final generation of Cosmo
Mazda Eunos Cosmo ( JC series ), the underrated car i wanted to say about. The final generation of Cosmo served as Mazda’s flagship vehicle in Japan, being sold as the Eunos Cosmo through its luxury Eunos division in Japan.
The Eunos Cosmo started production in 1990 to 1996, an amazing fact is that it was the only Mazda that would come with an triple-rotor engine and unfortunatelly only with an 4 speed auto.
Two engine was available, the Twin-Turbo 13B-REW and the 20B-REW. The triple rotor 20B had 2 Litres making it the largest capacity rotary offered for sale by Mazda. It produced 300 horsepower and 403 nm with twin turbochargers. The JC Cosmo was expensive even by today's standards, as Mazda still has not matched the sales price of this car some 22 years later for anything else in its range.
The Cosmo gathered a total of 8,875 sales, making it a rare car, a split of 60/40 sales between 13B-REW and 20B-REW variants made the triple rotor 20B-REW even more rare.
Comments
