How difficult would this be? How much would this cost? I just want to know for the future

Well … Considering that the first TT was equipped from factory with a vr6 it will be easy , because you can even buy a set of vr6 mounts as an original spare part for the TT and an used 2.8 is cheap , it’s different if you want to buy a 3.2 from an R32 because is more pricey but it will get in place in the same way of 2.8 . For what i know the only engine that will be difficult is the 3.6 because is bigger and it’s designed to be fitted in cars with more room like passat audi ecc ecc. Talking of other parts around the engine like the intake or exhaust they will fit like a glove ;)

Just buy the factory 3.2 V6 TT.
Why do you want to put that engine in a 1st gen TT? They aren’t a great chassis and the bodywork isn’t good either, remember the models without a spoiler produced lift in the rear. I don’t think they look good, but if you do, more power to you.
The chassis is derivated from the golf 4 so there’s a five link in the rear and a classic but solid built macpherson in the front , the body is full aluminum and is almost impossible to find today one of the first wingless TTs (in my entire life i’ve seen just one wingless TT ), but even if you find one you can add it later
