First. Car. LIVE! #3: [Opel Corsa C GSI] Rate it in the comments below.

Intro: I really enjoy doing these. And they could also be pretty helpful for some people.

Specs

The Corsa C GSI is the last of it’s species, the GSI lineup, so it had to go out with a pop and a bang.
So, it offers a rather decent 1.8L 16V inline-4 with 125HP and 170Nm, making it the largest engine ever seen on a Corsa, competing directly with the 1.8L N/A Golf 4.

Description

Being one of the most known chav cars, besides show and s3x spec cars, there were also a lot of ricers following the Corsa, especially because of its cheap price.
The GSI bodykit reflects 2000’s tuning style perfectly, but in a tame and stylish way.
Although it’s not fuel efficient by any means, just like most hatchbacks and superminis from that time, it’s still a car that could still be a good first car, since it’s easy to maintain and modify.

Mods

First of all, i’d say something that was recommended to me by Rotary Fanboii, individual throttle bodies for each piston.
Then it’d port the valves with upgraded valves, install larger injector, install a good air intake, make a 4-2-1 manifold and finally install a proper larger exaust with a performance cat.
At the end it should hopefully have 180HP, obviously after the final touch, the chiptune, when you make all your mods sing the same song.

Budget

This shouldn’t really cost more than 2500€ if you buy stuff in a smart way and sell them old stuff.

Conclusion

Corsa C GSI might not be fuel efficient, and even less after tuning it, but it’s quite a rare car that holds the end of an era inside of it.
It’s light, powerful and easy to fix, but the most important, it’s fun.

I’ll give it a big 8.5/10.
Really like it.
Unfortunately, here we got only one generation of the Corsa, that was the Corsa B and only in a sedan body style. Moreover, it had the 1.6 litre engine as the best offering. I’m not 100% sure about it but still, that’s what happened most probably.

Wow. Not even the one it’s known for, the hatchback.
At least the regular 1.6 was close to GSI.

Hmmmmm, I’m to keen on Opels, idk if you could squeeze out 180hp out of that engine, myb 150, but it’s a small car so it should still be fun!I’d rather build a Opel kadett gsi. 6/10

Kadett GSI is cool too.
Thanks for the follow. :)

Oh, and i think it could go over 150HP because with a chiptune it already goes up to 140HP and those mods add way more than only 10HP. Plus, the chiptune would be done after installing all mods to optimize them perfectly.

Looks nice, it’s just hit a score of 8.5! Especially when it’s a GSi model.

Cool. Btw, did you know they brought back the GSi model on the new Insignia?
Like, what was it? 10+ years since the last GSi?
