318i vs 320i as first car
Hello guys, which engine do you recommend in the E46 if bearing in mind the fuel economy, maintenance costs, power, as a first car. For the sound and power the 320i is a winner but I dont wan’t something that I can’t maintain because of the extra 2 cylinders.

Both are good, the 320i must have around 135 hp and its 4 cylinder engine. I dont know much about 318i tho…
If I saw correctly the 320i is 6 cyl. With 170 hp and the 318i is 143 hp 4 cyl. (Which would be enough for a first car).

also the i6 its more refined and more reliable
if possible get the 320i
Also what do you think a good price would be for a 2003/04 with maximum 200.000 km.?
Regardless of what people are saying, the 320i will drink more than the 318 beause it has 2 extra cylinders to feed.
Ive had a 318 with the n46 148hp engine and although it was very smooth for a 4cyl it has too many oil leak related issues so if you can afford a little bit of extra fuel get the 320i for the proper bmw experience.
