2000 MG ZR 160 Track Car - Road Legal

Sooooo… The plan was for me and my brother to build a Track Car after doing several track days in our own cars.
Having owned several MG-Rover cars I felt confident working on them , it seemed the ZR was a good place to start. Sure there are faster cars or more appropriate track-cars, but for us it was about making it simple and already understanding what we needed to do and how to do it :D the direction was for a fun, cheap, easily repairable car that could handle some abuse.

This build has been done on a relativley small budget compared to some other track-cars you see. Using mostly 2nd hand parts sourced from owners forums and parts donated off a couple of MG ZR’s I have owned previously at various points throughout this build.

This car started out in life as 1.4 Rover 25 along the years is has received..
1.8vvc Rover K-series engine (160bhp), Remap increased rev limiter
Rover 200 BRM gearbox, with close ratios and a Torsen Diff
GAZ Gold Coilovers, Strut Braces
282mm front brake discs with modified Rover 620ti brake calipers
Rover 200 BRM rear beam with thicker ARB, ZR160 rear disc conversion
Interior removed, sound deadening removed
Bucket seats and harnesses
Janspeed exhaust system
BMC CDA Induction system

The car handles brilliantly and is a proper hoot to drive. With intake and exhaust mods finished off with a remap the car makes a nice round 175bhp… which is fast enough to be fun… anyway… that’s enough talking! Enjoy!

Don’t understand why this car only has 5 likes and cliché cars like a GTR are so popular…
