4 Meaningful Differences Between The Subaru BRZ and Scion FRS
The manual FRS weighs 6 lbs less than the base manual BRZ. The auto FRS weighs 18 lbs less than the base auto BRZ.
The FRS has a drag coefficient of 0.27, vs 0.28 (with spoiler) or 0.29 (without spoiler) on the BRZ. I believe this is due to panels under the car. (Series.Blue BRZ is 0.27).
The FRS has softer springs up front and stiffer springs in the rear vs the BRZ. Theoretically this makes it slightly less prone to understeer.
The Series.Blue BRZ wheels weighed about 3 lbs less (per wheel) vs the FRS. (Both are 17” alloys).
Comments
The BRZ has a far better interior than the FRS
Because the black tachometer and silver panel make an interior “far better”
Wait. I heard somewhere, that BRZ comes with optional leather seats where GT86/FRS does not.
You would be correct. At least in the US, the FRS only comes in cloth, regardless of which spec. The BRZ on the other hand, in limited spec, has leather.
Brz is the better buy due to the fact that they can only sell one for every six or so 86s Toyota sells
so that means frs is better or what?
My 6”7 friend couldnt sit in an FR-S but fit fine in a BR-Z.
Different seats
I am 6’7” as well and noticed the same thing. In the FRS their are dash plastics extending closer to the steering wheel and my knee won’t fit there so I cannot hit the gas pedal. In the BRZ its a tight fit like any 2 door sports car but I can drive one around.
Matt from Car Buyer said that the BRZ was better for lap times, while the GT 86, being prone to oversteer, was better for drifting. “He who shall be last, shall be sideways and smiling :-D” I will have the Toyota please!
The BRZ has a slightly different front end
I only can see the different of 86 with brz only the bodykit. the 86 looks like serious man and brz like smiling man :D
I’ll have the Hyundai Genesis Coupe Please!
Thanks
Bye!
Biggest problem with the BRZ/FRS/GT86 isn’t spotting the differences…. it is the faint feeling of disappointment you get from the fact that it’s very good… but not quite as good as an S2000…. ;)
