4 Reasons Dirt 3 is the best Rally Game

As we know Dirt Rally is soon coming to the Xbox one and PS4 and I am a huge fan of the Dirt Series and personally I have not owned Dirt Rally on PC due to not having a gaming PC (that’s short for being broke) but I did play it at a friend’s place. Dirt Rally is a really hard and difficult game and we’ll see what they do for the console version so an idiot like me doesn’t crash after every two corners but anyway we were talking about Dirt 3. Personally I love Dirt 3 and in my opinion is that it is one of the best rally/racing game of all time. Here’s why:

1.The Graphics and attention to Detail

Dirt 3 has some of the best graphics that the series has ever had, I admit Dirt 2 was a bit more vibrant but Dirt 3’s settings gives this sense of intensity and you get fully immersed into the surroundings. The bushes in the dirt of Kenya to the Norway rally service area’s snow covered house, everything is just so beautiful. Not forgetting the crashes and the impact it had on cars, first the windshield gets cracked and then goes right off depending on the intensity of the crash.

2. The Variety of Events

Dirt 3 had a variety of events from Trailblaze to Gymkhana, it had everything you wanted. You can show off your drifting skills in gymkhana at one moments and at another you could push your car to every inch to get that fraction of a second less time to beat your opponent in Rally. Personally, my favorite were the Landrush Buggies, I know they were in Dirt 2 as well but they felt completely different and were a lot harder to handle in Dirt 3. Back to the point of drifting, I totally forgot to mention the separate drifting events, they were quite difficult to master at first but when you did, the feeling was just great.

3. The Amazing Cars

This game had probably the best set of cars that you wanted to play around with. I admit all the trucks were the same, unlike Dirt 2 they didn’t give us that many trucks to play around with which to be honest I was a bit disappointed about but none the less, it was still a pretty enjoyable experience. The Tacoma from the Trailblaze was an amazing car to play with, it had so much power and utilizing it on the rally course was challenging but so much fun. Then there were the Gymkhana cars, the 60’s, 70’s, 80’s and 90’s cars out of which I loved the Mini Cooper with the green livery, it was Mr Bean rally car for me and the Lancia Delta. There was just so much that I can’t even remember them all.

4. The Replays

Last but not the least, the Replays. The replays of this game were the best I had ever seen, they are still better than almost every game that is currently on. Even Forza 6’s replays are so bad, the car glitches everywhere and everything just seems horrendous and then there is Dirt 3. The replay captured each and every angle and even if your driving was worse than my brother trying to bowl in cricket, you would still feel special. All in all, I loved every moment of this game and it never failed to entertain me. Thank You Codemasters.

To be honest, I am a bit shocked to see the reactions of some people. I thought if anybody would disagree, they would do it in a humble way but some people just started bashing in the comments like it is facebook. I am really disappointed at what CarThrottle has started to become. I think everybody is entitled to their opinion and I respect yours but please respect mine and the fellow CT users who appreciate this great game. Sure, Dirt Rally is a great game as well but at the current moment it is not for an average joe like me. You can barely play that game with a keyboard or a controller, yes, it’s realistic and I personally find that a great feature but I currently do not own any laptop or PC well enough to run it or a setup to play it with. I am eagerly waiting to play it on the Xbox One as it is coming out in a few months, knowing it is the Dirt series and consoles have been a big target in their previous games, I would say they will do pretty good job to make it playable with a controller. but still be a little mature and respect other people’s opinions.

I wish I had not sold my Xbox. I had so much fun playing Dirt 3 online and racing with other people, you can’t imagine how happy I was everytime the host had set the class to Group B. I had pretty much mastered the Delta S4. Oh, well. I hope to upgrade to Xbox One soon

Do it bro, I play it on my Xbox One and to be honest I am currently having more fun on Dirt 3 than Forza Horizon 2 (which is a game I love as well but just got stale). The campaign is a bit more immersive for Dirt 3 as well plus Dirt Rally is also coming to next gen in a few months.

i think Dirt 2 was better but not by much. It had everything you say on this list with it only being slightly less realistic, but more fun if you only have a controller.

Also, you dont need to have recording harware to make gaming videos, all you need is editing software for PC and a voice recorder, lter diw, load the footage from YouTube, and edit them together in e.g. Sony Vegas

You aren’t wrong, it’s probably the best “all round rally game”. It’s easy to pick up, easy to play competitevely, the physics are not realistic but make sense as an arcade racer, the variety is mind boggling. If you look at Dirt Rally then its a better rally game, but it’s a lot less exciting and is more… well boring if Im honest. The replays bit - I did not notice that till you pointed it out, but yes, even if you drive like a took they make you look like Stig Blomquist behind the wheel.

I didn’t like dirt 3. I like dirt 2 better but dirt rally is life. Dirt 3 is more of an arcade racer and dirt rally is a simulator. I crashed a lot at the beginning but now I’m really good at it.
