2.0L I4 engine, AWD hatch with 50 more HP than the STI
It only weighs about 80 lbs more, and has a DCT
Much nicer interior
Much better fuel economy than the STI (23 City rating vs STI’s 23 Hwy rating)
Great sound system
Though I would prefer a manual transmission, the AMG addresses nearly all of my complaints about the STI.
I love GLA 45 AMG but in opinion STI is better
Would have an STi 110% rather than the amg
I would honestly still take the STI and not just cause I am a fan boy but for several other reasons. I love the tune-ability of STI it is a pretty awesome platform for tuneing right now huge aftermarket support. I would also take a boxer engine over the AMG engine, because I love the properties of that type of engine. Can easily solve the fuel economy by getting an after market tune I get as good as 31 mpg on the highway if I am careful. Yeah the interior sucks but I can live with that because of the rest of the package that the STI offers is what matters most to me.
I’d still have an STi, to be honest. If I bought either I’d pretty much have to take it off road, and I’d be to worried about the complications that would be inherent to fixing a Merc vs a Subie.
