The Brazilian cousin of the Alpine 110 you didn't know about

Hello Car Throttle World! I am thrilled to be somwhere on the internet where people love and understand cars! As a Brazilian guy (hue BR?) I am going to give you some insight on the Brazilian car culture . I study mechanical engineering an am fulfilling my dream of building cars with a Formula SAE student! Also, I will give some technical insight for some different stuff I find out there!
Also, I have a youtube channel with content in Portuguese, but I can do it in English, German (No flawless language guaranteed) or Spanish if you will! :)
Over with that, I will start off telling some about this small, nimble little buddy here. It might look like any Alpine A110, but in fact it is it’s Brazilian cousin, the Willys Interlagos.
The Interlagos was produced in Brazil between 1962 and 1966. Named after the mythical race track in São Paulo,it had a rather successful carrer in the Brazilian and Southern American racing scene, being almost unbeatable during the 60’s, being the first Brazilian-built car to win an international event in Uruguay.
It didn’t have a monstrous engine, but the 998cc I4 made about 70hp, sprinting from 0 to 100Km/h in 14secs, not bad considering the time it was made. It inherited all of the handling from its French relative, being its main characteristic for speed.
Some racing legends, such as Emmo Fittipaldi and Jose Carlos Pace won many races with the Interlagos. With only 822 made, it is a rarity full of history, with one example being found at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance.
