How to spot an undercover cop car (NZ Edition)

So here we have the marked police cars of New Zealand. I don’t know what that Kingswood is doing down the end there - probably getting pulled over for having too much beersies mate, or maybe his mullet has grown too long.
The orange and red are highway patrol high visibility.

The big question:

Is it a Commodore?
Yes: You might just have a police car on your tail.
No: It’s not a cop.

Makes and models:
Holden Commodore (2 latest generations, sedan, wagon and ute)
Holden Colorado (has blue and yellow stripes)
New Holland Tractor (only in Gore, but nobody ever goes there)

Notice the white blanks.

If it is an unmarked police car, there will either be lights in the front grille, or in the dashboard, and your radar will probably be going crazy.
I have yet to see one with lights in both places - they like to mix it up to give you that bit of excitement.

Uniform: Usually they have their uniform on, but sometimes they wear a shirt and tie, or a plain blue shirt.

Bonus!

If you’re driving along as see this, it means you’ve just been stung by a speed camera. Once alongside, drop into neutral and rev the sh*t out of your car.
Also comes in blue and yellow stripes, with the words “Traffic Safety Camera” to rub it in your face.

Kinda works for most parts of Australia too but they use Ford Territories as well, and Toyota Landcruisers + Nissan Patrols in rural areas. It’s a royal pain when unmarked cop cars are also really common private owned cars.

I saw a photo of a Hyundai SUV or something unmarked over your side of the ditch.

Yea it’s so annoying. I think Americans have it easier since not many people drive Crown Vics as private cars. but over here in NZ everyone has a Commodore.

we know that struggle here in europe too, we have passats ( b5,5 R32, B6 3,2L) skoda superbs (also 3,2L), <-highway patrol, and skoda octavias (literally the most common car in here) and fabias (second most common) for inter city monitoring, worst thing? they dont need proof it was you if they have snap of your licence plate from radar, you are responsible for your car so you pay the fine, which means that they dont need vRS, the have the most basic trim and engine that is aviable (also like most civilians do), only clue is “wart” in the grill or small camera on the dashboard (undetectable by antiradars)…

Watch out, they’re starting to use Holden Cruzes now, and they can look pretty similar to Commodores from the front.

Actually in Germany cops seem to be more intelligent… they don’t have prefixed lights, the put it with magnets on the roof and they use normal cars like VWs.

Definitely moving to a place where the cops look like cops. And when I say cops, I mean Highway patrol. A few in my area are a beige Camry, a lifted white toyota tacoma, and a ford f250. Bullshiz

Hamilton police are on the hunt for Tyler Powell. He was last seen in the Huntly area driving a white Toyota 2000GT. He has affiliations with every known gang and is considered dangerous so do not approach. If you know about his whereabouts, or any other crooks featured on tonight’s show, call crimestoppers immediately.
