Depends.. how much does the particular engine cost? Can you do the work your self or is a shop needed…..
Depends if it’s you or a shop, on the engine and components and if it’s a popular swap (ie no custom made parts like mounts) with a kit you can use and a bunch of other factors
Go on jdm engine depot and find out
I thought of buying an old Beetle and swapping it with some small car/bike engine, but I neither have the knowledge, supplies, nor funds to do that…
I work in a garage and a same engine swap usually take just over 1 working day or around 10 hours but i have been doing this for few years now and have a good tool collection which helps alot
I think it depends on what kind of engine swap you are doing, if you’re swapping say from a base model engine of a vehicle to a larger engine from the same vehicle that is going to be the cheapest kind of engine swap as the mounts will be the same, however if you’re LS swapping into an Mx5 it’ll be tough, same goes for rotary engines into non rotary vehicles.
The price of a garage depends on the hourly rate of the workshop and how many hours are needed to do the swap.
100K under the hood.
yes
Depends on VARIOUS aspects. I got an engine for 250 eur, rented a garage for a 100 and did it myself in a matter of a day. So there’s that. Also add oil, filters and coolant, and then add some for bolts you might be missing etc etc.
I’m budgeting about $4k to get an RB25 into my 280zx. We’ll see what I actually spend though.
