I came across a 4.2L Ferrari V8 from a '04-'05 Maserati Quattroporte for sale for only $4,400, including all the accessories except the AC compressor. If you bought this engine, what would you swap it into? Your budget is no more than the engine.
I would make an adapter plate to mate the engine to a FWD transmission from a Cadillac Eldorado or Olds Toronado, then turn it sideways and stuff it into the back of something tiny yet wide, cheap, and unexpected: an AMC Pacer. Ferrari-powered, mid-engined, rear-drive Pacer? Shwing!

I would swap it into a bmw e36 318i
YESSS!!!!!
Lol that’s what I’m hoping to get as a first car. If I’d have the budget for this swap i could only imagine the insurance company’s reaction.
Company: So let me get this straight, as a first car you have a rwd ferrari engine powered bmw 3 series?
Me: yes… Uhhh… Maybe?
Dont forget the obligatory m badges
Put it in my Subaru legacy
Man…that beauty needs to be strapped on to a naked chassis and you need to hit every apex! Would make a CRAZY track day build! But do whatever. That’s what I would do if I had the skill and knowhow
Like the Roadkill Vette Kart, except with a Ferrari engine?
I would swap it into my car 😂
in a mercedes w201
I’d put it into mine and make a Maserati mustang!
Ultimate sleeper. I’d put it in a MK4 Golf Estate and make it rear drive:D
And mid engined :)
I’d swap it into a civic. Nobody would expect a civic to have Ferrari power.
Either an old Volvo or Audi. Putting an engine like that in a Scooby, ford or old Merc just seems wrong.
I’ve got a Volvo. Just give me the engine and i’ll swap my 2.3 T5 in a other Volvo.
A fiat 500, who wouldn’t want a prancing mouse
Believe it or not, that one’s actually been done, except with a 3.0 V8. It was built by the same guys who built a mid-engined, AWD Fiat 500 powered by a Lambo V12. They had to widebody the Lambo one to make it fit and it looked sick, but I’ve never seen it actually drive — just rev in their garage. The one with the Ferrari V8, though, is functional. Here it is at the track:
