I came across a 4.2L Ferrari V8 from a '04-'05 Maserati Quattroporte for sale for only $4,400, including all the accessories except the AC compressor. If you bought this engine, what would you swap it into? Your budget is no more than the engine.
I would make an adapter plate to mate the engine to a FWD transmission from a Cadillac Eldorado or Olds Toronado, then turn it sideways and stuff it into the back of something tiny yet wide, cheap, and unexpected: an AMC Pacer. Ferrari-powered, mid-engined, rear-drive Pacer? Shwing!

an FB/SA22 RX7, engine swaps aren’t uncommon in rotaries, and generally give the car longer life and reliability, so why not? also cos sleeper.
