If Vin Diesel loves American muscle and claims that it "beats import every time". Why does he choose a Mazda for the first race in the first film, especially one with a (twin) turbo rotary engine...?

Probably because that was the ‘scene’ during that time period for LA street racing.

It wasn’t dom who said muscle beats import every time, it was a guy driving a Camaro after a race where he beat Brian in his skyline, I believe it was in the fourth movie. I don’t recall dom ever saying he prefers muscle over import?

Dom actually says, “I’m a boy ho appreciates a good body, regardless of the make.” Dom is a true car guy!

I stand corrected but you gotta agree that apart from that first race in the RX7, Dom is usually in a muscle car. There is also a reference to this in 6 when he tries to give baby Jack a Charger instead of the Skyline that Brian has given him.

Oh the RX7 and the black civic. Apart from that is all muscle.

He doesn’t, however, he does say: “I’m a boy who appreciates a good body, regardless of the make.” (Fast and Furious 2009) Your quote was also from the 4th movie, when Brian gets shanked by Dom in a drag race for a slot in a gang boss’s crew, a muscle car guy says that.
