This post goes out to anyone who wishes to visit Nürburgring. Important PSA. Read:
The city of Nuremberg has an airport. The city of Nürburg does not. The closest airport for international flights is in Köln. If you want Nürburgring, you go to Cologne.

I’m still a little surprised to hear the number of people who confuse “Nurburg” with “Nuremberg,” I’m like, there’s an extra syllable in there, guys. In fact it’s so common, if you type “Nuremberg” into Google, the second suggestion is “Nuremberg Race Track”
Nurburg = Racetrack
Nuremberg = Where they tried people for war crimes after WWII
Not the same thing.
Nuremberg is much closer to Berlin, than to Nürburg. It’s a surprisingly far distance between the two cities.
For German speakers like me, it’s cringe worthy
English can read using only the first and last letters you know. That’s why I find German hard! You guys change the middle of words a lot not the prefix or suffix
What might confuse people is that “Nuremberg” is “Nürnberg” in German, which looks more like “Nürburg”
Or you could fly to East Midland and go to the Mini Ring (Cadwell) with me!
I’d be down
When I went to the Nurburgring we arrived at the Frankfurt airport and is 161km or 1h and 47min. You can visit this site: [Travel Time to Nurburgring] (http://www.nuerburgring.de/en/fans-info/info/directions-parking-spaces/directions.html) to find out how far your location is to the ‘ring
Certainly, that would work. Köln is a bigger city - no matter where you fly from, you can fly to Köln. Frankfurt-am-Main does not always have planes going straight from Canada to Frankfurt-am-Main, for example. It requires a layover in France…

Köln is an amazing city. We stopped there for a night on our way to the ring last year.
They’re two completely different cities, absolutely nowhere near each other. I thought everyone knew that?
noooooooooooo trust me its not the first time i hear about this..
German cities like to share names/be confusing. You can’t just go to Nürburg without people asking if you’re going to Nürnburg. Also, you can’t just go to Frankfurt without people asking “which one? Am-Main or An-der-Oder?”
ooooor you could take a flight that arrives to munich at late evening/night… rent a car, usually middle class car is a 320d.. drive the 500-600km to the ring by night on the autobahn.. max it out on the way there…
depending on the time you get there either camp, sleep in the car or go to a hotel.. in the morning go to ring garage get the CT86 do a few laps and then blast your way to munich airport…
important: if you want to speed in germany.. do it by night… by day you will be stuck most of the time in traffic…
