Only if you’re always racing it’s sensible. It’s because lights can get chipped easily from debris while racing, with the tape it protects it a little as well. Another reason is because if it does chip or crack, the tape keeps it from falling onto the track for others to run over it and puncture tires.

Doing it on back lights is stupid, bro.

I definitely agree when it comes to taping lights on the track. There’s nothing worse than getting hit by a flying rock.

When I track race my motorcycle I even use a cheap set of Chinese body panels.

If I could find a hood bra for my car I would definitely wear one of those to the track too

Do you like the cosmetic aspect of taping lights though?

The theory, is that the glass lenses on BMW E30 headlights and tail lights will break easily, but at least not shatter and make a huge mess with the tape.

Therefore, as a cheap safety item, I love it.

P.S., plastic headlights Jetta is a poser; lol - no E30 for him!

ohhh okay
I didn’t realize the X was for track use as well. Whenever I see cars at the track they have their entire headlight covered with painters tape usually.

So in theory taped headlights on the street are literally R.I.C.E. haha
