For your own safety! Never install a full roll cage in a daily!
A lot of people don’t know this but when you have a big impact with your daily and you have a rollcage installed you will probaply crack your skull open.

Or complement it with a racing harness
Not a good idea either. I have a friend who crashed his track spec car with harnesses and rollcage and he even touched to rollcage with his helmet.
roll cages are for track cars for your safety when you ROLL
Yeah well some people just don’t get that. It’s really dangerous when you are not wearing a helmet. Even the FIA padding won’t stop your head from cracking.
why put them in race cars if their so unsafe in a everyday drive car?
Because in a racecar you use a helmet? Helmets are not legal on the road so when you crash without a helmet you’ll crack your head open because of the rollcage.
I’m more worried smashing my face into one as im getting in and out of a daily car lol
when you race , you have to wear a helmet anyway
u dont need a rollcage in a daily, adds weight
Stiffens the chassis
The rollcage with a proper racing seat and harness is fine. As long as the rollcage doesnt affect the crumble zones of the car.
*crumple
Also you forgot at least some sort of head protection.
And what about padded roll cages, like some old RUF cars? Btw, in some cars it is illegal to fit rollcages in streetcars…
I’ve heard people saying that even the FIA padding doesn’t protect enough. They really have to do some tests about this.
I don’t agree
5 years ago, my friends dad own a Land Rover defender with a roll cage and used it to work in the mountains. One day he fall down from a ravine. He is alive because of the roll cage.
Most of the Land Rover Defenders have external Roll cages. Otherwise he was lucky. This could be your head.
What if it’s not a full roll cage like this and also if you’re harnesses extend far enough for you to hit your head on a cage in front of you they’re pretty sh*tty harnesses. Also if there so unsafe for the road why do the likes of Porsche use them for there Cars like the gt3s or any gts.
Roll bars wouldn’t be a problem as they aren’t in front of you or above your head. As for bumping the rollcage with your head…I’m a tall guy and in most of the cars I touch the roll cage. For example BMW 325i clubsport, MGB GT V8 rally car, VW funcup. I can’t even think putting a roll cage in my mini because I already touch some parts of the roof with my helmet on.
As for Porsches they don’t use full cages.
Solution: Wear helmet everyday like bike riders do.
And risking a ticket for wearing something that obstructs the view :d It is bullsh*t but there is always one stupid law enforcer to pull you over for that reason.
Hmmm… I might prefer having my skull temporarily cracked than having my legs crushed. I may agree that on newer cars, it is not a necessity to install a roll cage since they are so good at absorbing shocks but for cars older than 15 years, I would.
Plus, if you install a roll cage in your daily, you’re going to have bucket seats which sit lower than the OEM versions and harnesses. So I think there is no issue there.
I would install roll bars, not a full cage. Problem solved. No crushed legs and no cracked skull. Bucket seats are not the answer for some people. I’m tall and I have problems with some cars when the cage is installed. When you install bucket seats your head won’t be lower in any way as you fit them to your needs. So most of the times your seat will be just as high as your ‘normal seats’. It won’t be fun when you can’t see above the dashboard wouldn’t it :D
