Nostalgia is one of the main sources of inspiration for the automotive industry, some times this resulted in something good, like the 2005 Ford GT, however this isn’t always the case. Back in the year 2000, Audi wanted to pay tribute to one of the drivers of Auto Union (Audi’s predecesor) this driver was Bernard Rosemeyer, who died in January 1938 in a car crash on the highway that conected Frankfurt and Darmstadt, he was trying to set a new speed record when a strong burst of wind made him lose control of the car and sent him to his death.

Owning an older car for more than a decade gives you a window into the minds of the people who designed and built the thing. Parts break, and when you fix them, you see the handy work that went into the original part. You see the purpose and execution of the design. Some of these things make you think “Oh, I see what Mr. Engineer did there! Clever girl.” Others make you think, “Meh, must of done it to save costs.” But every so often, you come across something that just makes you think: “WTF were they thinking!”

10. Mk4 Volkswagen Golf GTI Often labelled as the worst Golf GTI, this enthusiast choice is easy to find in the classifieds for under $5k with a bearable amount of mileage. Easy to find with a manual transmission and with a large owner’s community, it can be fun to own. In my opinion it isn’t that bad. I would prefer the Mk5 Golf GTI, but it is sadly out of the price range.

The Contestants If you look into my CT garage, you will see my pride and joy: a 1982 Pontiac Trans Am . It is a car I’ve been working on for almost a decade, and have enjoyed every minute of it. I’ve gotten my hands on just about every part of it, and very few parts don’t have a replacement or modification lined up once the money comes in. However, what you won’t see in my garage is the competition.

The description from “Gran Tursimo” Autobacs, Japan’s most popular automobile parts/service store chain, set out on making its own complete car, one that embraced the values of an exotic sports machine that anybody could drive. With the help of Kikuo Kaira, of Tommykaira fame, the company realized its goal under the name Autobacs Sportscar Laboratory and presented the world with the Garaiya at the 2002 Tokyo Auto Salon.

Like the HRG, the TC’s design dated from the 1930s. However, here the similarities end because the MG became the world’s most popular sports car for the early post-war years. With the British government encouraging its car makers to export their products to gain valuable foreign currency, the stylish, practical two-seater, that was good for a top speed of 75mph (121km/h), brought MG a global audience, first in Australia and then, even more significantly, in America.

Believe it or not the AE86 is one of the rarest cars in america, most owners don’t even know how rare they are. It’s estimated there were only about 4,000 GT-S’s sold here, Of those i’d estimate less than 2,500 are not soda cans by now. And of those i’d estimate only less than 200 are stock. And 50 are pristine.

You could make a strong case for the MX-5 being as close to an automotive ‘blank canvass’ as it’s possible for a modern car to get, and this means that there are literally thousands of tuning parts available for all four models. The majority can be broken down to distinct categories relating to specific areas of the car’s running gear, with prime examples beings suspension, brakes, induction, exhaust, wheels, interior styling, exterior styling, transmission, forced induction and for the really committed, full on engine swaps.

#blogpost Hi CTzens and today I’m back with a blog post after a long time. My first blogpost covered how the petrolhead culture in India is near non-existent, but today, I’ll be covering the handful of cars which are actually capable of being a racecar. Keep in mind, this doesn’t mean highly customisable. Let’s get straight to it.

The Toyota Prius gets a lot of hate amongst car enthusiasts, chiefly because it stands for the one thing that most of us don’t care about: fuel economy. But does this make it a bad car? We don’t like it, so it must be bad, right? Right? Or has almost the entire community of car enthusiasts got it wrong? Is the Toyota Prius a good car?

So maybe your brake pedal is soft, or you notice your brake fluid level is constantly going down, or maybe you bleed the brakes after changing your caliper or pads and notice that the bubbles never ever stop. You probably got a leaky rusted brake line. This usually happens near the points where brake lines are joined together and mounted to the body of the car. The brake line wiggles back and forth which puts a lot of stress on the tiny tubes causing them to rust over time. My car is 24 years old so i got plenty of rust everywhere and been having a soft pedal for a while.

It’s been a year to the day since I was lucky enough to finally buy this car from a close friend, as a birthday present to myself no less. (Happy Birthday to me!) I’d been warned in the past about buying cars from friends as issues with the car can potentially lead to issues with friendships. However, knowing the full history of the car, I was confident in my purchase and knew it was the right call.

The Mazda MX-5 comes into its own like no other during the (often all too brief) British summer time. Our twisting B-roads are so perfect for the roadster’s supple chassis and thrilling, rear-wheel drive handling it’s almost comical, and when the sun finally decides to make an appearance, well, you’ve got a small slice of driving heaven right there!

For this article I reflected on my five months of owning my Mustang, and thought of 9 reasons why I’ve enjoyed owning it, and why other people should! I’ll make this into a YouTube video later on, but here is my article!

Its been 20 years, I think this is a good time to look back on how this series evolved, or devolved, whichever you prefer, and single out the games that shined between more than 20 released titles.

(1.) Cubic Inches Most of the world makes sense, and thus most of the world uses the Metric system. You’re used to hearing about displacement in engines being 2.0L, 5.0L, etc. Just about any car guy is going to know what you mean when you say a car has X.X Liters under the hood. Well prepare to throw all that out the window.

Hello! Bonjour! Guten tag! Hola! (Insert a myriad other hellos). My name is Lacoste Alligator, and I am going to be writing a sort of review-type thing about my car. So this is the first time I’m doing something of the sort, and if it goes well, it might not be the last time. But oh well, let’s see how good of a review I can do at 2:32:57 in the morning.

When was the last time you had an encounter with a sleeper? You know, those unassuming cars that seem like regular grocery-getters, yet completely smoke you from the lights while your jaw drops in astonishment. Well I thought I would share with you one of my favourites. Its a locally built car, Proudly South African, and will amaze you. Its a throwback to an older feature in Speed and Sound Magazine (a local magazine which is THE mag to get when you like tuned cars), so I am unsure if the the car still exists or not.

So yesterday I picked up a K&N Typhoon Cold-Air Intake from Traffik Performance for $460 CAD. Unboxing The Intake When I first opened the box I admit that I was excited. What was evident once I inspected all the parts and pieces was that this kit is extremely well made. Everything was wrapped in protective packaging and nothing was damaged.

For six decades Aussies have shown flair for building not only some of the world’s best tin-lid racers, but how to paint them as well. We give you nine of the best. 1. GREEN-EYED MONSTER After Craig Lowndes made a deal with the devil and switched from Holden to Ford in 2001, the Gibson Motorsport AU Falcon became his wingman. It wasn’t the most successful pairing, with the Smiling Assassin having limited success at the Ford factory team, but the Green-Eyed Monster instantly became an icon of modern V8 Supercar racing.

Back in 1999, Mercedes-Benz would enter a car at the Le Mans 24 Hours that would be known as iconic but also one of lore. The car in question was the CLR. Why is it of lore, well, first we must look back at the design of the car. The CLR was based yet a redesign of a previous racer that mercedes produced, the CLK GTR. The CLK was V12 powered and was built for different regulations to the CLR. The CLR had to meet with the LMGTP (Le Mans Grand Touring Prototype) regulations which would hold a new class of cars including the CLR.

It was inevitable there would be a final Falcon of some kind. Not even the most cold-hearted bean counter could countenance closing the book on 56 years of tradition and heritage without a celebratory farewell model. As it turns out, there are two, the XR8 and XR6 Sprint, reviving an iconic Falcon nameplate first used on the US version in 1963 before appearing locally on the ED XR8 30 years later.

KDM…Who actually gives a toss? Well I sure do because I’m weird like that. Badge engineering is not big of a deal. It happens all around the world. However, Korea took it to a whole new level. Before I go in to the details, I’ll give you a quick history lesson. The first car ever to be in the Korean soil is a 1903 Ford Model A limousine. It was meant to be a ceremonial wagon for the Go-Jong emperor. However, they ditched the plan because it was too loud and fast for the emperor and they thought it would ruin the emperor’s swag.
