So who was Karl Kleve and why does my dad have pieces of his mansion in his house? Well, Kleve was an eccentric billionaire who was a local celebrity of almost legendary status until he passed away from cancer in 2003 at the age of 90. His daughter is quoted in his obituary as saying, “He dreamed of designing the perfect automobile. He had a keen sense of justice and a strong sense of family. And he definitely wasn’t held by tradition.”

A 90’s hatchback, full independent suspension, a wide selection of SOHC engines with range-topping DOHC models (which unfortunately were mostly Asian-Market only), horsepower ranges from 75 to 175hp, easy engine swaps from bigger cars of the same manufacturer, racing pedigree and four wheel drive models. “Wait 4WD? That’s not a 90’s Honda Civic!” You say, and yes you are right.

The other day, I got this wild hair to do something with my tail lights. I didn’t really want to use night shades, so I thought about what else I could do without buying a whole new pair of aftermarket ones. Then it hit me: why not paint designs on them? But I had it in my head that I could do it a certain way, so I decided to do an experiment to find out how it would look.

Recently, Jalopnik writer Jason Torchinsky (@JasonTorchinsky on Twitter) wrote about a very unfortunate license plate on a loaner Volvo S90. You can read about it here: The name of the dealership is Borton Volvo. In his article, Jason mentioned that he did not have the heart to tell the people at the dealership that it may not be the best plate. So I decided to call them! When I called the dealership, they directed me to a manager that deals with registration. And the first couple of lines went something like this (quotes not 100% accurate):

When the old Top Gear trio announced their website “DriveTribe”, it recieved mixed responses from all of us on CT. Some of you said you were jumping ship, and others called it out for “lying” about its claim as the first social site for petrol heads. I’ve been using Drive Tribe for the last 4 days, and feel that I can properly tell you guys what DriveTribe is all about.

When you think of Balkan(or Bosnia for that matter), the chances are the cars you will think of are probably Yugo’s and MK2’s. We all know Yugo’s are there because they were made there and they were cheap and yadadada. But the Mk2. Why the Mk2? Let me explain.

When the newest generation Ford Mustang was revealed to be housing an Independent Rear Suspension (IRS) for production, there were some mixed reactions. For the Road Racing/Autocrossing Mustang fans, the reaction was, “ YESSSSS!!! “, for the traditional Mustang fans it was, “ NOOOOOOOO!!!! “, and for Europeans it was “ About time you cavemen. “

It’s no secret Porsche tend to make fairly good cars. When it comes to the GT department, they tend to make spectacular cars. But of late, there have been a few changes made at Stuttgart that have upset some of their loyal customers. The switch to turbocharging on almost every non-GT model hasn’t been universally popular and the 4-cylinder units now used in the Boxster and Cayman are attracting the majority of the negative comments.

So with the prospect of yet another week without any form of half interesting automotive design news to comment on, I thought it was time to recognise what I think are the most influential and important designs that have hit the showrooms in the past 30 or so years. The 80’s and 90’s were not really admired for their exploits in exceptional design, but out of it formed the foundation of the car industries recent explosion of interesting and daring design.

Hennessey Performance has become one of the better known American tuning companies, in no doubt thanks to their own production cars: the record-breaking Venom GT and Venom GT Spider. The company was founded as Hennessey Motorsports in 1991 by John Hennessey and got its first media attention with a tuned Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4 that participated in the Silver State Classic, the famous Nevada flat-out race. The 3000GT dubbed by Hennessey as the VR-200 went to win the 91 mile (146 km) race in the “unlimited class” with an incredible average speed of 166.3 mph (268 km/h).

A 2015 study by the University of California Berkeley found that lane splitting is reasonably safe under many circumstances. This finding was one of the catalysts that set new motorcycle lane splitting laws into motion a year later in the state. On August 19th of this year, the state of California legalized lane splitting for motorcyclists. It will likely only be a matter of time until other states follow suit. Some motorcyclists and other vehicle drivers are concerned about legalizing line splitting and some aren’t. Here are some pros and cons to think about.

This is my first attempt at writing a review so please be patient. I will give you a little history of my car. It was bought new back in January of 1989 by my great grandma for a price of $15,900 ( $30,995 usd adjusted for inflation). For its entire life before i got a hold of it it braved the brutal salts of New England for 27 years. One day last year my Great Grandma decided that it was about time to stop driving and let the car sit in her garage. Around christmas of 2015 my mom began talking to me grandma and asking questions about what they were going to do with the little integra.

Yes those three Wagons I choose and I took that picture of my best mates Volvo carrying my moms E34 518i on the trailer to the workshop on purpose if you ask. And yes there are other 90s station wagons, which I will attend to later, but now for what I know and how I chose to take them for the winners. All the three cars above I have driven. The Mercedes is taken from google pictures, but I had driven one just like that. A 1996 Mercedes 250D. And well the other two pictures are my Daily and my buddies holiday traveler.

Arguably one of the news to come from the LA Auto Show was the 2017 Porsche 911 RSR, and more specifically, how the engine is in front of the rear axle as opposed to being behind it. Some accuse it of being a “waiver-mobile” like the GTE cars of old, saying that “it shouldn’t be legal; there’s no such thing as a mid-engined 911 that I can buy”. However, Porsche Motorsports Head Dr. Frank-Steffen Walliser has insisted that the new RSR is fully compliant with all GTE rules, and would require no waivers.

A tribute to Ron Dennis after 35 incredible years with McLaren Back in 2007, McLaren was involved on what could be the biggest ever scandal in the history of Formula One known as the “Spygate”. In which McLaren was passed with confidential technical information of their rival from Maranello: Scuderia Ferrari.

As car people we obviously have to deal with fanboys saying that this is the best car, and that is the best. So today, we are going to shine some light on these cars on why they are overrated. Lamborghini Aventador The Lamborghini Aventador is one of the most overrated cars to not just the younger ‘enthusiasts’, but even the older ones. It has a 6.5 liter V12 that makes 700 horsepower at all four wheels. Big power in an Italian supercar, means a lot of fans.

We are still 30´s. Well exactly in 1936 when modernization of the T-77 was needed. Better acceleration, fuel consumption, less weight, more power….. So designers took what they already knew from curetly produced type 77 and redesigned it into type 87. And it was real success and let me try to prove it to you :)

Mitsubishi FTO’s- boi, those were nice cars. They really were the origination of fresh touring cars. Japanese-only '97 GP Version R As for those who don’t know what a FTO is, it’s a sporty coupe released in the UK, New Zealand and Japan for the first few years then Japan-only since 1997. It’s basically a 3/4 size Aston Martin that even has a Tiptronic (Porsche semi-auto) gearbox included with. For fellow Brazilians and US people you got the Eclipse. We got this.

Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder Performante LP 570-4. The largest name ever given to a car. It’s the lightweight version of the Gallardo Spyder LP 560-4. It has the same 5.2 liter V10 engine but outputs 10 more horsepower. With the roof down you can hear more of the V10 noise and you’ve got million miles of sky over your head.
