The beginning of the 21st Century. Generation Z. The noughties. Whatever you want to call it. The 199X years have ended, and people have just about woken up from their hangovers after Y2K and ready to get to work. And by the looks of it, everything that happened prior to 2010 seemed to be the result of chaotic brilliance and stupidity mixed together to shape contemporary lifestyle as it is today, and this has affected the automotive industry as well.

It’s been a while since I’ve written here, but that doesn’t matter. I’m just dipping back here to express some love for my favorite car as of the moment: The Mitsubishi Lancer Evo III, specifically, the CE9A generation Lancer Evo.

Alfa Romeo has always been known to be a performance-oriented car maker with a prominent presence in the world of motorsport both in and out of the tarmac, and that has no doubt had a significant influence in their share of the mass-produced market. Their builds and sports cars were truly exotic in every sense of the word: rare, gorgeous, sonorous and exorbitantly priced.

In the veritable arsenal of performance-viable civilian cars that many Nissans and Infinitis are well known for, most Nissan-oriented fans usually look to the S-Chassis, Skyline, and Z families for fairly inexpensive yet reliable and adequately practical cars with tons of potential left over for tuning and modifications. But among these top dogs is a car that not many people seem to view as something they might have fun slinging around the B-roads, joyously overtaking everybody in the highways, or even go sideways in a veil of tire smoke and burnt rubber.

As far as we know, the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution we all know and love originated in the late 1980s as homologated versions of that particular generation’s rally-based Lancer sedans. But was the Lancer the first car to utilize a stable, AWD layout, stout, aggressive four-door body style and the famous 4G63T turbo-four engine? No .

(As a response to a blog challenge by fellow CTzen and friend Chadkake, I have decided to make an article of my own on a small list of lousy qualities that all Japanese cars seem to share.)

The 1990s is renowned to be one of the golden ages of car culture, most prominently in Europe and Japan (there were certainly some sweetheart cars in the USA that time, but for most it was fairly mediocre, sorry). And by the end of the 90s, were some of the most memorable cars to be introduced to the car scene.

(Now, allow me to break my rather long silence with this article. Hope it was worth it!) SUVs. They were well known for being rugged, no nonsense cars that forgo luxury and comfort to be large, minimalist hulks designed to cross over difficult terrain and terrible weather and road conditions. They were never thought to be “bro-haulers” covered from top to bottom in luxurious leather and looking like a best-seller sedan counterpart bloated and jacked on stilts.

They say, “Things grow better with age.” The same can be said with many prominent cars in the automotive world. Like ginseng, fine liquor and Jennifer Aniston, famous cars that were great since birth managed to keep it’s stellar reputation as 10 out of 10s that they are among aficionados, and definitely for good reason. Its within the name, the looks, the technicality and detail, and most especially the presence they bring.

Take a moment to ponder about what makes a car enthusiast a car enthusiast; it seems as though you must like performance cars and only performance cars to be entitled a “proper car enthusiast”. But that should not be the case. Luxury cars are a whole different kind of beast in the world of cars, usually stuffed with leather, assistance electronics, excellent, and sometimes vainglorious luxury options, like lets say, the $100,000 Bentley Bentayga gold and diamond clock or the Holland & Holland Land Rover Range Rover custom tune and gun collection.

When people hear about “muscle cars”, automatically, most would think about the big brash, American V8 grumblers. Mustangs, Camaros, Chargers, HEMI’ Cudas, and the like.

Being a car enthusiast is great. You feel universal carmaraderie (lol) among fellow enthusiasts, willing to share tales of car adventures, mechanical advice, culture, and basically all sorts of topics, hence, CarThrottle was born. However, in everything, there is both a good and bad side of it. The light side, and the dark. The head, and the tail. Being a car enthusiast is no exception to this.

Car enthusiasts. They compromise a sizable portion of the car industry, but unfortunately, many car companies just don’t give the products they so desire. The kind of cars that are different, the kind of cars that are mavericks of the mundane “Point A to Point B” ideology of cars. The cars that spark emotions and undying passion for the ones devoted to drive and care for them to the fullest. Performance cars.

When car companies make a compact, dedicated sports coupe, they want to make sure it’s different from it’s competitors to give the scene some interesting variety. When Honda introduced the S2000, it seemed as though it’s only true competitors were the Mazda MX-5 NC, which proved to be less powerful and poised than the S2000… The Porsche Boxster, though it had normally had a straight six than a four cylinder. The Audi TT, but it was not exactly a direct competitor and had less power.

As petrolheads, we all have our own perspectives and philosophies when it comes to being one, no? Believe me, I love CarThrottle and the community for it’s constantly positive, helpful, and overall friendly community and the aura of car maraderie that promotes such attitude, but then, even as I stay in this website, I have some negative opinions towards some major fads in this community.

Its the 1990s. A fantastic era of revolutionary sports cars that practically blew the minds of almost every automotive journalist during the time.

This engine was used in most of the early Lexus models such as the LS400 and some GS300 models. CTZens, what car would you use to swap this engine in? As for me, I’d like to get an off-road spec Toyota Hilux and put this in there and have it supercharged. tweet tweet

We petrolheads of course love machines that have an engine and four wheels and a specific driving layout to boot. We got rear wheel drive, all wheel drive, and last but certainly not the least front wheel drive. Forget infamous and fallacious negativity such as FWD being a boring layout because its the main drive layout for mundane economy cars, bad torque steer (although this one is a bit correct) and inability to do some mad hooning, because there are many FWD cars out there that show much potential and ability to go toe to toe with, and sometimes, oust many RWD and AWD cars.

First of all, I am really big into the Japanese car scene (my favorite car brand is Toyota FYI), and I know I’m not the only one. I’m pretty sure a sizable percentage of the CarThrottle community are Japanese car enthusiasts and for sure, many of you lament upon a lot of amazing Japanese cars that have never gone formally internationalized with the exclusion of imports and Australia. This article will be about 7 of many great Japanese cars that I wish were sold in many other areas around the globe.

Being a petrolhead is really an awesome thing. Not so if you’re born in a country that has all the elements to contradict your passion for automobiles like the country I was born in, South Korea. Its only been 20 years when the car industry in my country started to accelerate with the rise of foreign marketing campaigns, as a result, the car scene before the late 80s was bleak and murky. Hell, for instance, only this year have they started to introduce Mazda into Korea introducing it with the Mazda 3 and the ND MX-5.

Hello everyone! This is my CT Testimony and I’m going to tell you how I joined this amazing petrolhead website and how I like it now. I’ll try to make it short but solid. Here I go.

With over 1000 HP and impressive aero and carbon fiber, this is one hell of a Ferrari. chirp chirp
