Why is SMG so hated? Ive been fortunate enough to own an e46 m3 (smg) and currently an e36 m3 (true manual). I loved SMG. Dont hate if you havent tried it!

Manual, it may be slower but it’ll be the better summer cruiser.

Neither. I already have an SMG vert. People who are so against the smg baffle me. The only time I have ever heard of it having problems usually chalk back to someone doing something wrong and it leads to problems. I’ve beat my car up and at 167k miles with the csl software and no issues yet. All about maintenance you cry babies

Turn the SMG into a track car. For real fun you should really have an MX-5 anyway (wink wink)

I know people love convertibles and that the SMG transmission is bad but I hate convertibles because I like my cars to be high performers and I’m sure you can do things to improve the SMG transmission but I don’t think you can do anything to undo the negative performance aspects of a convertible.
