IndyCar fans were treated to not one but two races around the Detroit street circuit last weekend. The first was won by Will Power, despite the Team Penske driver starting from 16th on the grid and colliding with Simon Pagenaud early on. Jimmie Johnson secured his second consecutive win and his ninth at the Dover International Speedway on the weekend after dominating the Nascar Sprint Cup race, leading 272 of the 400 laps. A great restart with four laps to go meant he was unchallenged to the chequered flag, with Brad Keselowski (who started from pole) and Matt Kenseth in second and third respectively.

Included in the NASCAR action was a long red flag period after a piece of broken track was hit by Jamie McMurray at turn two. The pothole was repaired and it later emerged that the parts of the concrete flew up and smashed through the glass of the walkway above.

The legendary Spa-Francorchamps circuit hosted round four of the Formula Renault 3.5 season. Race one was won by Carlos Sainz Jr, with fellow Red Bull Junior Team driver Pierre Gasly and Jazeman Jaafar completing the podium. The beginning of the race was a messy one, with four drivers being eliminated on lap one after a tangle at Les Combes.

The MotoGP domination of Marc Marquez continued on Sunday after the 21-year-old secured his sixth consecutive victory in as many races at the Mugello circuit. With one-third of the calendar now completed, he has a perfect score of 150 points.

However, he had to put up a fight in Italy after a slow start dropped him from first to third. It took the Spaniard until the penultimate lap of the race to move to the front and he eventually finished just one tenth clear of Jorge Lorenzo, with Valentino Rossi – on his 300th grand prix start – in third.

Stefan Bradl had a particularly painful Sunday at Mugello. In the warm-up session he suffered the huge crash that you can see in the video above. He was then taken out of the race by Cal Crutchlow’s bike. Fortunately he was uninjured in both accidents.
