This 1:8 Radio-Controlled Not-Lego Mercedes-AMG One Has a KERS

For most of us, a functional Mercedes-AMG One is out of reach. The hypercar’s limited production run and £2.5 million price tag are rather large barriers - but this new scale model could be the next best thing.

Produced by toy maker CaDA - this block-built 1:8 scale, radio-controlled Mercedes-AMG One kit has some pretty incredible features.

The real car uses a reworked Formula One 1.6-litre V6 with hybrid assistance, and this kit aims to replicate the latter part of that. Pullback motors will replicate regenerative braking, and you can even play around with the strength of the effect mapped to two separate buttons on the control - possible thanks to a functional two-speed transmission.

On top of that, you can also pop the scissor doors open with the remote control and operate the car’s LED headlights.

The retractable rear wing has been faithfully recreated, too. Other touches include replicas of the 10-spoke alloy wheels wrapped in Michelin-branded tyres and the tri-exit exhaust system at the rear. There’s even an embossed AMG logo on the fin piece - rather than going to easy route with a sticker.

CaDA has worked with designer BrunoJJ1, known within the community for his custom Lego sports car designs, to produce this 3,295-piece kit. This isn’t just a technical showcase, either - you can buy your own right now for $292 (approx. £240). Each is delivered in AMG-branded packaging and includes all the electronics to get it working too.

Lego itself also offers a Mercedes-AMG One kit, but as part of its much more scaled down, non-radio controlled Speed Champions set. That’s £39.99 through its official store, but does come paired with a Mercedes-AMG W12 Formula One car too.
